It’s a groundwork kind of week!
🦄 Gilby
We are following a plan set out by his physio which includes a mixture of in hand hacking and pole work. More recently the physio has noticed a deterioration in his hindlimb toe drag so we are incorporating a lot of raised poles (of varying heights) in a hope to help him engage his backend and core.
🦄 Brie
Brie can often become quite sour to the school so we always try to keep her sessions fun. Brie is often quite lazy on the lunge but because of the cooler mornings, a fresh clip and something very scary (that was invisible to me) we were gifted with a lot of high energy. When Brie does this we do our best to praise her and let her move forward freely (as usually we lack impulsion on the lunge)but do our best to contain her energy so she is not silly. We are always try to teach our horses new things and one thing Brie has perfected is her voice command changing of the rein but, as shown, Brie loves to add some of her own unrequested style points… It’s so lovely to see horses expressing themselves and enjoying the variety in their work!
🦄 Gypsy
Gypsy is on lunging boot camp and we are hoping to help her owner get Gypsy’s weight down. During this lunging session we did a lot of transitions to help Gypsy engage her core/backend and this also helped improve her responsiveness.
🦄 Henry
Henry’s owner is on holiday but has a saddle fitting booked the day she gets back so we are just keeping Henry ticking over so she can hop straight back on, without worrying he’s had over a week off. Henry’s owner is also conscious about his weight so these lunging sessions are great to burn some calories and get his heart rate elevated.
