📣 Important reminder 📣
Over the next few days and weeks many equines are coming up for sale — and a lot of them will be young, unhandled ponies.
If you’ve found yourself responsible for an equine, feeling overwhelmed or unsure — you are not alone, and we’re here to help.
As an equine rehabilitation and welfare charity we have years of experience with handling, health and trauma. If you find yourself struggling, please remember there are organisations and professionals who can support you. Don’t wait until it becomes overwhelming — reach out.
A few practical reminders:
• 🕰️ Time & commitment: Owning a pony is more than a weekend hobby — some new arrivals need ALOT more time than you expect.
• 💰 Finances: One of the biggest causes of poor welfare is underestimating costs. Think about feed, farrier, routine vet care, dentistry, emergency funds and ongoing maintenance.
• 👩⚕️ Health costs/needs & legal requirements:Be aware of parasite control, castration (if needed), passports and current vaccination needs.
• 🏡 Environment & company: Check stabling, secure fencing, turnout, and suitable equine friends.
If you do have room in your life and home, please consider adopting from local rescue centres. We currently have over 20 equines ready for loving homes — some young and playful, others ready to retire in peace.
‼️They come with clear histories: passported, microchipped, handled, and supported with parasite treatment and veterinary guidance.‼️
💚Without homes for the animals in our care, we can’t rescue more. If you need advice or support, email [email protected].💚
Adopt — don’t shop.
Please share to help find our ponies home and offer support to those who need it.
Photos are some of our current equines and past equines showing that with handling, time, training, health care and support …. These equines can flourish and be part of your family too 🩷
