The walk out vs the walk home...
Makes me laugh when the rehab programme says 'Controlled Walk Work for 10minutes'.... emphasis on the **Controlled**'....👀
After an afternoon out field in the sunshine - some vitD serotonin,I figured tonight was the perfect opportunity to get started with our rehab and that there'd be no need for any sedative as she'd be fat and full... excellent 👌
Started out very promising! Walked out lovely, keeping all 4 legs on the ground, not one snort or shy...I was starting to tell myself " Wow,she hasnt been out the field since October and this is just the beginning of rehab..this is gunna be a breeze!"....
Until we got half way round,it all just got abit much. She held her breath as we passed the busy village green & pub - i thought she was gunna rise up from the ground like a phoenix but some how, what little composure that was hanging on by a thread, kept her grounded...
But from then, she new we were homeward bound. The speed picked up. The attitude got sassy. The breathing got heavier. Both hers and mine - I was knackered trying to keep up!
Then i started thinking "hmmm... actually... this is gunna be a very long, gruelling 6months...🙃😆
Thankfully, apart from breathing fire and growing to about 17hh, the coiled spring did her best to keep it together.
Me on the otherhand couldn't wait to get back.
There was nothing controlled about the final stint home. (I got the 'best of the worst' on camera..I needed both hands for the majority of the performance!!!)
Our 'Controlled walk' was a not so appealing piaffe.
All ability to listen to my voice was non existent.
I was sweating.
She was puffing.
Getting back inside the field gate with us both in one piece was quite a relief😮💨😂
In all fairness, she did extremely well given the circumstances. It could've been much worse...but
Moral of the story is - dont assume your horse wont need the sedative...they will.....
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
