So, I'm always looking for unique, all-natural, and healthy proteins, and I recently found "insect bites" for pets! Yep, pet treats made from insects. Personally, I wouldn't eat bugs, but I know my dog would. So, I did some research, and apparently, these treats have:
Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL)
This is the most digestible and protein-rich insect meat, with the best calcium-to-phosphorus ratio. Using fresh whole grub and dried insects gives our furry friends a tasty and nutritious meal.
Mealworms
Dried yellow mealworms are in a lot of pet foods. They're easy to digest but don't have as good an amino acid profile as BSFL. Mealworms also don't have the best calcium-to-phosphorus balance.
Crickets
These are digestible and have a pretty good protein level. Crickets do lack some minerals found in BSFL.
These treats aren't just packed with unique protein; they're also hypoallergenic, so they're good for dogs with protein allergies, sensitive skin, or tummies.
So, my question is, would you try this if it were on the menu?
