We're delighted to announce that the bill to increase maximum sentences for animal cruelty from six months to five years has finally passed through parliament! 🎉 Blue Cross has campaigned for this law, with other animal welfare charities, for many years and we are delighted that progress has happened. This law will now send a message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated.

Finally, we have a cover for our book!

The lifespan⏳ of a dog🐶, the maximum length a canine can expect to live is around 30 years.

However, this doesn't mean that the average dog will live this long: the actual length of a dog’s life is influenced by their genetics🧬, environment🌳 and lifestyle🏃🏻‍♀️, as well as injury🆘 and illness🏥.

Today’s dogs tend to live around 11 years, on average, which clearly isn’t long enough, if you ask any guardian.

But the world is full of outliers; dogs that have lived well past 20 years, in bodies that didn’t break. We wanted to know why.

We interviewed these dogs’ owners, examining every aspect of their lives. Then we interviewed the top geneticists and longevity researchers who explained why, according to the latest science, creating more of these ultra-long lived dogs is well within our reach!
