UPDATE** Thank you to those who have participated. This will end on 22nd February so if you want to take part, there is a limited time remaining.
I would really appreciate your input. When our dog is diagnosed with cancer, the news can be both devastating and unexpected. From experience, I know how difficult and overwhelming the decision-making process can be (particularly with something so time-sensitive and with so many things to consider). In memory of my own dog Tilly, who lost with her own battle with cancer in November 2020, my final years' dissertation of a BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and Welfare will focus on the ‘factors influencing pet owner decision-making related to chosen treatments for dogs diagnosed with cancer’.
According to research, around 45% of dogs that live to 10 years+ will develop a cancer-related illness during their lifetime (a scary statistic). This single statistic indicates the magnitude of cancer in the world dog population and highlights the need to continue research to gain a better understanding of how dogs are affected by cancer and to promote the advancement of treatments available to them.
I appreciate this is an emotive subject but would really appreciate your input by completing my questionnaire. You, (like me) know first-hand how difficult some of these decisions are and the hope is this research may influence changes to support dog owners like you and me, and our dogs with cancer.
To access the questionnaire, please click on the link https://forms.gle/cL8QnXyyRTNM24ZGA
Works better on a computer but can also work ok on a smartphone.
All responses are anonymous and it should take around 20 minutes to complete. Further instructions are available in the questionnaire. This questionnaire will close on 22ndFebruary 2021. Questions marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
If you have any questions about the survey, please email the supervisor (details in the questionnaire).
I really appreciate your input and I know Tilly would too.
For all the dogs and owners like you and me who continually need our support...
Thank you
