If you are heading to Europe with your dog this year, you will need a valid ๐๐ป๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ต ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ (๐๐๐). The AHC replaced the Pet Passport, so is now the document need. With the very recent changes to the law, an EU pet passport, issued to or held by a pet owner who is resident in GB, will no longer be a valid document for travelling with pets from GB to the EU. This applies
to EU pet passports issued in an EU Member State or Northern Ireland, including those issued before 22 April 2026. EU pet passports may only be issued to owners whose main residence is within the European Union.
๐ง๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ ๐ธ๐ป๐ผ๐โฆ
โ-Your pet must be microchipped.
-Your pet must have a rabies vaccination at least 21 days before travelling and the expiry of rabies vaccination must be later than your return journey to the UK (if applicable).
-You will need to complete an AHC application form, which will need to be returned to us for processing.
-Once your application process has begun, you will be contacted by our admin team and a 30 minute appointment will be arranged with you. This will usually need to be within 10 days of intended travel with an Official Veterinarian (OV) who will check over your animal and issue the AHC. ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ถ๐น๐น ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ถ๐ป๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐.
We have a number of OVs at H&J but they get busy with AHCs at this time of year, so don't leave it until the last minute!
