I'll be honest, it's difficult to tell if a rescue organisation is a good one & with the benefit of hindsight, I've had dealings with a couple that possibly are not. Some of the things in this blog you probably won't find out until after you have adopted & we all know that's too late. Nevertheless, it's worth a read. It's also worth remembering there are some atrocious breeders out there. As far as I am concerned, the number 1 rule is: DO NOT buy a puppy (or kitten, or any other animal) from some random advert you have seen on social media. It will likely be a puppy farm. Whilst you may feel you have rescued one puppy from appalling conditions, you will just be encouraging them to replace it with another & allowing them to profit from that animal's misery. You will likely end up with a poorly bred or very sick dog, or both. Either way, it'll likely cost you a fortune because even if you get insurance, it won't have kicked in yet, or you'll hit the limit of your policy very quickly. If I can persuade one person to avoid this situation, my work here will be done 🙏
