Life-Drawing Studies

Most of these Life Drawings have been hidden away from the world. I never thought they were good enough to post anywhere.
With time, I noticed every one of them has areas I am drawn to admire, whether is the quality of line or the depth of tone placed mindfully.

This selection of drawings involves expressive and intuitive mark-making, signifying my focus wasn't on the accuracy of form and proportions when I was still a fresher.
Noticeably, as I learned from critique and guidance of a passionate tutor, my Life Drawing Studies advanced. I shifted my desire to create original art pieces to learning how to measure the figure, block out shapes, work with negative spaces and ignore the details.

Some time ago, if someone requested a commission with a short due date, I would've massively doubted my abilities to finish it on time.
The work I completed in 2024 defined strong self belief, each and every piece fills my heart and soul with pride for myself and for my skill, crafted patiently throughout my life.

Although a sad piece for me personally, I have enjoyed the process of creating this drawing.
I underestimated the amount of layers it'll take to build the depth of his beautiful coat, but proven myself that my technique got so much faster and efficient this year.

I honestly want to do more, be more. Let my heart lead my hand into creating.

It's been a while since I shared any work. 🌞
Coloured ink and fine-liners on A3
I feel like this drawing from 2019 deserves more attention, the amount of work I've put into the detail, dynamic composition and movement makes this one stand out from other commissioned artwork. 🤓✒️
I really enjoy these creative illustrative projects where I can unleash my expression rather than focusing on depicting the image exactly.
This piece was auctioned and I have no idea about where it might be.

Hello!
Here are all six illustrations for a fantasy children's book that I had the pleasure of drawing in 2020.
The self-led process starting from reading the fantastic book, to brainstorming ideas, developing character design and composition for each illustration was a building experience for me as a freelance artist.
Being commissioned to do this by a brilliant and determined writer was a great honour and recognition of my skills.
I am hoping I will get to do more projects like this.

Hello!
Here to share another one of my commissions completed in 2020.
This A3 graphite drawing was one of the first large scale portraits I committed to.

Completing it was incredibly rewarding, building tonal value through patiently adding and removing layers of pencil.
On the other hand, bringing out accurate features by manipulating the material on paper without overworking, is a challenging task.

This piece turned out better than I've imagined, increasing my confidence as an artist.

Hi there, it's Magda here.
