Hi I am Sarah, I am a stay at home mum to two wonderful kids, based in the Birmingham/Walsall area. I am passionate about animals and I have had my own pets for over 16 years. I have been successfully running Furry Paws Pets for 6 years and I am a very caring person putting the welfare of the animals in my care as my utmost priority. I offer a Boarding Service in my home for small pets including r

abbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters and other caged pets in my bespoke boarding facility newly built in 2023. Facilities include hutches that exceed minimum size requirements, a large secure pen for daily exercise and playtime, the shed is fully heated with lighting, water and a fridge/freezer to store any food your pet enjoys. I am available at short notice and for longer periods of sitting as required to meet your needs. I have a full UK clean driving licence, DBS check and my own vehicle. Small pets can overheat very quickly.

- Consider moving outdoor hutches into the shade or love your pets indoors.
- Frozen water bottles in socks or wrapped in towels are great for cooling them down.
- Change their water at least twice a day
- Provide plenty of shaded areas for them to hide but avoid plastic houses as these overheat quickly.

I go through a lot of hay here at Furry Paws and obviously Sushi has to be in charge of quality control on delivery day....

Bookings for March are filling up and I only have a few spaces left towards the middle/end of the month. I am also now getting bookings for April and some for the Summer so if you need boarding for your pet I’d recommend sending me a message to check availability 🐾

Let me introduce you to my own piggies. I have a herd of 4 - Buddy is my elderly man at nearly 7 (cream and white), Mimi is my 3 year old tri colour, Parmesan is my 6 month old (gold colour) and Brownie is her sister and my 6 month old chocolate brown. They live in the equivalent of a 6.5 grid x 2.5 grid enclosure.

Today was cage cleaning day and also new forage from Piggie Parcels which they absolutely love.

I use fleece liners in all my guinea pig hutches and for a long time I’ve wanted a set of matching liners for all my boarding hutches. Today they arrived, made by the amazing Angelika Fleece Cages who I’ve used for a number of years for my own piggies and always makes high quality, reasonably priced items. I absolutely love them and can’t wait to get them in my boarding hutches ready for my Christmas guests.

I’ve wanted to go back to fostering guinea pigs for about a year now but couldn’t find a local rescue that needed foster carers. Last week I saw a post on Facebook about a rescue in Coventry who had a rescue intake of 12 piggies coming in. I sent a message offering to help foster and after a long phone conversation and lots of messages about piggies I am now a fosterer for Little Floofs Micro Rescue.

This week I welcomed my first foster piggies - a gorgeous pair of baby boys called Elm and Rowan who arrived on Tuesday. Today I picked up Pooh and Piglet from an abandonment situation. I’m so excited to work with these boys, caring for them, building their trust and teaching them that humans are not always bad.
