Without a doubt this last few weeks has been emotionally draining and stressful.

Like everyone I have cats coming at me from all directions.

After trapping 30 I was and still am drained.

Theres still a few stragglers to go - which I aim to try again this coming week.

Traps are being set when it’s not pouring down - but so far to no avail -

Which I knew the time would come where the little cherubs would become more difficult.

I’m spending a small fortune on food - with no chance of rescue spaces for the 9 I currently have - the plan this weekend is to get the two youngest kittens who can now fully leave mom( she’s been spayed )

Once they are out the way and it’s dry the traps can be set without them going in and setting them off as they have been 🫣

I’ve just paid off what little funds I had left but still owe over £800 in total.

If anyone is able to help it would be very much appreciated.

I shall add the links.

Update on the cat in the trap:

The trap was left by a charity with the family yesterday - the family were asked to close the trap off last night at 7, which they did and reset it today - which they did and told to ring the main number when he goes in - which they did.

The cat entered the trap around 2pm but the charity who left the trap and had an in-depth chat with the family - later wouldn’t collect the trap.

They said they had sent a 3rd party out and couldn’t recall who it was - so
basically refused to collect.

🤯🤯🤯

The lady contacted several vets in the meantime ( and it was Julie from one of the vets who then contacted me - thank heavens )

The family contacted their own vets whom couldn’t help either because the cat was in a trap belonging to a charity.

Tonight after long chats with the family they were not in a position to bring the cat indoors and didn’t want him left any longer in the trap.

They contemplated releasing him. - which means there’s a chance he’d never be caught again.

I contacted a few contacts to see if anyone could hold him tonight and he could go to my vets in the morning.

But while that was being arranged the family agreed to put the trap in their car covered over and take him to an ooh vets.

Thanks to Sarah who was on stand by with a transfer cage and was going to help transfer him over.

The cat was fine to travel in the trap to a vets covered.

I’ve not long spoke to the family again who are now back from the vets.

The cat has been left there and will be treated accordingly.

And so has the trap - so the charity can collect that too in there own time.

Again - all these unhappy boys because of people not neutering their cats.

It’s really not that hard guys !!

Thank fully this boy is safe now - thousands aren’t 💔

The nervous kittens from the colony are coming on a treat.

They have play time in my garage on the floor and are used to my animals too.

No way could I release little ones like this to live a feral life 😻

Thank you to one of our rescue friends for the food donation ( we didn’t get full pics ) and the cat tree. The food has been shared between several fosters and feral feeders around the Midlands.

Also thank you to Trish, Lydia and Jennie for the recent food and trays and litter.

If anyone has food unwanted by their cats we have so many feral feeders who would be very grateful for it.

Thank you xx

This mommy and kittens came to us a few weeks ago and have been in foster since.

The initial request was for the owner to keep 2 kittens - but after an in depth chat and the realisation that kittens grow up it was decided the family would have mom back once kittens were weaned and mom spayed.

Then upon collection they decided they wanted mom and 1 kitten for a friend and 1 for a family member.

However i have not been contacted once since these cats have been in Petals care.

I’m not chasing people - they have my number - the fosters number and the number of the lady they contacted initially to get my help - who they previously palmed endless cats on.

My only concern is they will go and get a male - because 🙃 males don’t have kittens -

Their only involvement is spraying, fighting , roaming oh and making the actual babies!!

Mommy and 2 babies have today gone to one of our rescue friends -

The remaining two kittens are staying in foster under Petals for now as they have a home lined up - once they are Neutered and chipped in a few weeks.
( it was just easier transport wise to work it this way )

Thank you to one of our rescue friends for helping get mommy and her babies a safe space until they find forever homes.

And of course to our lovely foster family for keeping them all safe.

( kittens are 10 /12 weeks old now and fully weaned - we haven’t removed young reliable kittens from their mother )

*** ATTENTION POST ***

Please share !!!

There appears to be a growing problem in the area regarding un neutered cats.

I’m currently helping a colony of over 40 cats plus kittens. - just in one garden.

Not neutering your cat is determental to their health and wellbeing

*Un neutered cats wonder further from home

* Un neutered cats roam , Spray and fight

* Un neutered cats contribute to the huge numbers of straying and feral colony’s that become out of control, where numbers of each cat will double every 9 weeks. ( a female will be back in season immediately after birth - so she will likely spend her life forever pregnant )

* A female will birth till they die - they won’t ’ get too old to birth ‘

* Females do not need to have a litter

* Un neutered cats will have a shorter life span

* Un Neutered females will get Pyometra - a womb infection which can cost up to £2 k to treat and be fatal.

* FIV/ FELV will spread while mating and fighting this will cause significant health risks and many kittens will die.

* Un Neutered toms will stalk mothers and sometimes kill the kittens to mate the mother again - chasing the mothers away can result in remaining kittens being orphaned and often die. Because mom has become lost or killed.

* Un Neutered cats are more likely to be killed by cars as they have zero road sense when being chased.

* Neutered cats will still hunt - for anyone thinking a farm cat will no longer do their ‘ job ‘

* Cats become sexually active as young as 4 months - a female birthing this young will result in a struggling mother cat with kittens needing specialist care.

* While kittens may be cute - they all grow up and will mate with their mother- father- brothers and sisters - THIS IS NOT CUTE !!

For attention is a recently trapped male who has spent his life fighting for survival all because someone couldn’t be bothered to neuter him as a kitten.

If you love your cat - please NEUTER THEM. And keep them inside until they are Neutered.

If you are struggling there are charities who will help - and so will I if your local.

Thanks to my cousin Emma for fetching this little lot for me yesterday -

Going through litter and pads like they are going out of fashion.

And food - well that’s another story!!

9 kittens and counting 🫣

The traps I set last night / early hours caught 2 previously trapped and neutered cats 🤷‍♀️ - now if I wanted to catch them again - it would be near on impossible.

They clearly love the sardines 😻

Was a busy night had traps in two locations -

The cats from the colony are dispersing as they do - so it’s getting a bit more tricky.

I’m out at various times checking - which is time consuming and draining.

I’ve only managed to catch one during the night and she was not a happy bunny.

Apparently her kittens often perish - but I spotted one yesterday so I’m waiting for that one to re appear.

A tabby male who is another sporadic cat has shown his face again but avoided the trap so far.

This little lady will be spayed etc today at least.

She’s number 29 in for Neutering from this particular colony.

Still trying to find homes / rescues for the 9 kittens I have here - who are coming round nicely apart from one who is still rather shy 🤯

😬
