⚠️⚠️⚠️ Warning - distressing post ⚠️⚠️⚠️

Unfortunately we have had a deceased tabby and white cat, seemingly involved in a road traffic accident bought in. We believe the cat to be female but it is very difficult to say due to the conditions. There is also no microchip but this isn't to say this has been lost due to the nature of the incident. Found on Dunton Lane.

The main identification is a collar, if you believe this could be your cat, please comment an image of your pets collar (the collar in question is pale pink with little characters on the inside) and we will be in contact if it's a match unfortunately. 💔

With temperatures expected to stay very high over the coming days, please take extra care to keep pets safe and avoid unnecessary travel during the hottest parts of the day.

🌡️ Anything over 25°C can be dangerous for many pets, and heatstroke can become a life-threatening emergency.

Extra care is needed for:
🐶 Our more senior fur babies
🐶 Flat-faced breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, French Bulldogs, Shih Tzus, etc.)
🐶 Pets with heart, breathing, or mobility issues
🐶 Young puppies and kittens
🐰 Small animals and rabbits

💧 Always provide fresh, cool water
🌳 Walk dogs early morning or later evening — skipping walks in extreme heat is okay
🔥 Avoid hot pavements (if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws)
🚗 Never leave pets in cars, conservatories, or poorly ventilated spaces
❄️ Ensure access to shade and cool areas indoors and outdoors

If your pet has a routine, non-urgent appointment please consider contacting our practice to discuss rescheduling if travel may be unsafe in the heat on 01767 310920. If your pet is unwell or needs urgent care, please do not delay seeking veterinary attention.

🚨 Signs of heatstroke 🚨:
• Excessive panting or rapid breathing
• Drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Collapse or confusion

We have sadly had a deceased kitten handed in after being found in Upper Caldecote.
