We have had a lovely little kitten around 3-4 months old brought into us by a member of the public.

The kitten was found by the airport end of Sunningvale Avenue this morning under a hedge. We strongly suspect this little one is missing a home as it is very friendly and well looked after 😻

The little one does not have a collar or microchip so we are relying on help from the public to reunite this one with their family!

If you suspect this is your kitten, please get in contact with us via phone on 01959 541 153 or by email at [email protected].

Charlie, the loveliest little man, came in for a lump removal surgery at the beginning of July. We were removing a lump from his back which had previously become inflamed and also performing a debulking of a lipoma (a benign growth of fat cells that form a soft moveable lump under the skin) on his front left leg.

The lump on his back was excised with margins and packaged to be sent to the lab for cytology so the vet and owners could understand exactly what it was. The vet then started on debulking Charlie’s lipoma, but upon seeing how well it was encapsulated, the vet tried to removed the entire lipoma. It was a very long surgery, but Charlie was stable throughout and the vet was able to remove about 95% of the lipoma, weighing 419g!

Being an older boy, Charlie did experience a slow recovery and despite being usually very chatty, did not bark to demand attention until the following day. We were all very happy to hear him talk!

He did experience quite a bit of bruising, which was expected due to the extent of the surgery and he was also prescribed some antibiotics after it became inflamed and red. He also had Intrasite (a hydrogel that debrides wounds by drawing out debris and keeping the wound moist to encourage healthy granulation tissue) applied to the open area. Thankfully this all worked well and the swelling continued to decrease and he has come along in leaps and bounds. His stretched skin is shrinking and there is now only a small open area which is closing nicely.

His parents have said how there is a great improvement in his mobility now and Charlie even got a gift from the staff due to being such a brave boy, despite all his treatment and visits!

On the 20th of May, a member of the public brought in a juvenile wild rabbit that was being cornered in his garden by his cat.

We admitted the rabbit (affectionately named Ricky) to assess for any wounds. Cat bites or scratches can be extremely dangerous and likely fatal for wildlife due to the bacteria they harbour, so it is imperative that we checked the little one out for any signs of injuries.

Ricky was generally healthy however we did find a wound in-between the 2nd and 3rd digit on the hind foot. We were unsure whether this wound occurred from his run-in with the cat or from something else, but, to make sure he remained healthy we started treatment.

Little Ricky was weighed so we could accurately give medication. He was started on antibiotics to treat or prevent any infection and pain relief. He spent the day hiding in a kennel and eating fresh dandelion leaves from our garden until one of our nurses was able to transport him to Folly Wildlife Hospital later that afternoon.

We have received an update from Folly where Ricky stayed for just over a week! Whilst there, he was kept on a course of antibiotics and pain relief. Once he was deemed fit and healthy he was released on the grounds of the hospital where other rabbits are thriving. We are so glad that little Ricky got a second chance! 🐰🤎

✨ Little paws, big heart ✨

Tomselo the miniature schnauzer came in for his first nail trim — and he handled it like a little pro 🐾💛

He had a full health check and also had his very first flea and worming treatment — a vital step in keeping our pups healthy, happy, and protected from the very start. 🌿✨

Preventative care may seem small, but it makes a huge difference in a puppy’s journey. If you have any questions about flea and worming for your pets, please call the practice so we can help!

Welcome to the world, sweet boy — you’re already so loved! ✨

Meet Josh! 🧡🐶

Josh is one of our sweetest, most loveable patients who came in to see us as his eyes were constantly watering. This made little Josh look like he was crying all the time which is definitely not what we want to see!😢

After assessment, the vet had discovered that Josh has Ectopic Cilia (hairs that grow where they shouldn’t and in Josh’s case, the inside of his eyelids). These were brushing against Josh’s eyes causing irritation resulting in the watering of his eyes.

Josh came in for a sedation to pluck these hairs and assess his eyes further. He was a very brave boy and sat for his intravenous catheter very well! He was of course rewarded with lots of cuddles and kisses!

Small, fine hairs were plucked from the inside of Josh’s eyelids and fluorescin dye showed that these hairs have luckily not caused any ulcers.

As soon as Josh had recovered from his sedation he was eager for more love and attention, even stealing Emma from reception!

This lovely little girl is Lilith and she came to see us recently for a general health check. Lilith was very brave and the vet was able to let her pawrents know she is perfectly healthy!

If you get a new pet, we would advise to bring them in for a general health check just to make sure everything is okay! 💚

Lilith likes to share more about her life and her brother, Sherlock, on their Instagram page -

This is little Raphael who came to see us as he had a large cyst on his right flank that had become ulcerated and pruritic (itchy).

The vet was able to conclude that the cyst was located within the subcutaneous layer of skin and therefore could be easily removed under general anaesthetic. Both Raphael and his brother Michael were admitted to the practice for the day. Having his brother by his side would reduce stress for Raphael, and Michael, had a day out (and his claws clipped!)

The surgery went well and the large cyst was removed. The skin edges were sutured together and a little bit of skin glue was applied to help.

After the anaesthesia, getting Raphael to eat as soon as possible is very important due to their digestive systems needing a constant stream of food. Luckily for us, Raphael decided to eat some dandelions that we have growing in our garden. Michael also tucked in, of course! We also closely monitored defecation and urination to ensure his gut was moving well.

Raphael was able to go home later that evening with some pain relief and considerably lighter!
