Does anyone know of emergency placements or any rescues that will take a Presa Canario? URGENT as she is not getting on with the other dogs in the household. Any advise or help appreciated.
5YO well behaved 37kg Presa.Canario currently with 3 other dogs. Already tried all the local rescues.

🌡️ It’s Too Hot to Walk Dogs Today! 🐾

Today’s temperatures are dangerously high for our furry friends — pavements can reach over 50°C even when it’s just 25°C outside! This can burn your dog’s paws in seconds and put them at risk of heatstroke, which can be fatal.

🚫 Please avoid walking your dog during the day. Stick to:

Very early morning or late evening if absolutely necessary

Short, shaded toilet breaks only

Indoor enrichment (snuffle mats, frozen toys, training games.

🔥 Signs of burned paw pads:

-Limping or refusing to walk
-Licking or chewing feet
-Pads darker in colour or blistered

If this happens:
🧊 Cool the paws with lukewarm water (not ice)
🐾 Keep them clean and dry
📞 Call your vet for advice

🌡️ Signs of heatstroke in dogs:

-Heavy panting or drooling
-Lethargy or confusion
-Bright red gums
-Vomiting or collapse

If you suspect heatstroke:
🚨 Move your dog to a cool area
🧊 Offer water, cool them gradually with wet towels
📞 Contact your vet immediately

☀️🐾 Too Hot for Walkies? Here's What You Need to Know 🐾☀️
Hi everyone – it’s Emily from Emily’s Dog Walking here with a gentle reminder during this hot spell. 🥵

It’s currently 27°C and getting hotter, which means it’s not safe to walk dogs during the daytime. Even short strolls can be risky in this heat — especially for flat-faced breeds, older dogs, puppies, and those with thick coats.

🌡️ Safe Walking Temps

🐶 Under 20°C – Generally safe for most dogs
🥵 20–23°C – Caution: avoid intense exercise or long walks
🚫 24°C+ – Too hot to walk, especially on pavement
🔥 Pavements can reach over 50°C and burn paws in minutes!

💧 Humidity Makes It Worse

High humidity means dogs can’t cool themselves properly, raising the risk of heatstroke even at lower temps. If it’s hot and sticky, it’s best to skip the walk.

✅ Early morning or late evening walks only
✅ Shaded garden breaks or short toilet outings
✅ Mental stimulation & calm indoor games

Not all dogs can be off-lead — and that’s totally okay! Lead walks can still offer amazing mental stimulation through scentwork, gentle training, exploring new routes, and going at their own pace. It’s not just about distance, it’s about engagement.

🌳 Off-lead dogs enjoy the freedom to roam in secure or quiet areas meeting a sociable buddy for company and playtime.
