💚One of the best things about our job is making life easier for older pets and their owners.

💚 Lots of senior pets experience anxiety when travelling or attending veterinary appointments.

💚 By coming to them at home we can alleviate some of this discomfort.

💚 We recently saw Tilly here for her health check and vaccination. It meant we could also prescribe some mild sedatives to help her with the long car journey for her summer holiday.

💚 Happy International Cat Day everybody! Today we celebrate our wonderful feline friends and think carefully about what it means to be ‘cat friendly’.

💚 Cats are very sensory beings who react strongly to their environment. Confinement in a basket, travelling, bright lights, loud noises, unfamiliar smells, cold surfaces, other pets such as dogs, plus being examined by a stranger can all add up to sensory overload when visiting a clinic, which results in anxiety and defensive behaviour.

💚 Being ‘cat friendly’ in a clinical environment means respecting the cat as an individual whilst still achieving the required clinical outcome.

💚 At The Lounge Vet, we aim to reduce the stressors on our feline patients by coming to them at home, taking our time to get to know their needs, and make adjustments as needed. We never want our clients to feel reluctant to make an appointment because it’s ’too stressful’. It doesn’t need to be that way.

💚 We had the pleasure of meeting Isla at one of our Potten End Clinics recently.

💚 Poor Isla suffers with her a**l glands so has had to spend more time at the vets than she cares to remember.

💚 Understandably, she’s a bit nervous of those in green scrubs and all that poking and prodding they like to do….

💚 So when we met Isla for the first time, her owner made sure she was on good form and we were able to make it a pleasant introduction to Katie and the van!

💚 We really want you and your pets to feel comfortable at their appointments with us. We recognise that to achieve this, it’s necessary to spend a little extra time investing in our relationships. We think that’s what they (and you) deserve.
