I’m constantly being asked how much for a groom. While I believe this is a legitimate question unfortunately it’s not as easy to answer and it shouldn’t be the key to finding the best fitting groomer for your dog.

My grooms are based on individual dogs and their lifestyle, it’s not a 1 price fits all grooms/dogs from the same breed. So I require extra information than a ‘how much to groom my dog’ question.
What breed?
Coat type?
What style?
How old?
Behaviour?
How much brushing do you do?
What kind of walks do you go on?
Do they like brooks/water?
Do they have skin issues/allergies?

It’s also not about price, it’s about the time and effort we put into building a solid relationship of trust, it’s about the amount of training and regular refresher training we carry out, it’s about the equipment we use, the maintenance we pay for on said equipment, it’s about the extras we offer alongside the full groom (inbetween care) it’s about the advice we give for free, it’s about the out of hours care we give, it’s about the knowledge we hold, it’s about the behaviour training we’ve carried out, it’s about the care we give before, during and after the groom, it’s about the security we offer, it’s about the ear and shoulder we offer at the door, it’s about the health changes we notice since the last groom and the lives we’ve saved by a simple vet app suggestion, it’s about the out of hours worry we hold and the check in texts we send, it’s about getting to know your dog and knowing how much they can tolerate, it’s about a full service including behind the scenes.

So when you are looking for a new groomer please think about why and what you want for you and your dog, not about getting the cheapest groom.

I always say there is a groomer out there for every dog. It might not be me and that’s ok.

This little lad is just the cutest, it was like he’s always been a client of mine. But he hasn’t, today was his first visit. We had a little play on the floor after to build trust and respect.

Unfortunately I’m having to write a very upsetting post, but it’s really important to me that people are educated in the moment. It’s how we grow and how things are brought to our attention that we didn’t see for what they really are.

🎥 These videos are cause for concern! Anyone who finds them funny needs to seriously think about the way they ‘care’ for animals.
This trend breaches all kinds of animal cruelty and any groomer sharing them, showing others or making them, should give up grooming immediately. I spend hours of my week desensitising my customers (new and old) to the dryer, it’s a scary piece of equipment to a lot of dogs. It’s blows air at a high velocity, it’s noisy, it can be cold to start with, it can get very hot if attention isn’t paid at all times. So to see videos where groomers think it’s acceptable to point it directly in their face and watch the scared reaction to lash out back at it, to music for entertainment, it’s really upsetting.

The RSCPA needs to go round to this groomers, pretty sure they have their business names on the videos/profile, and either educate them and issue final warnings or close them down. The very least!

I urge my customers and those who follow my page from afar, to report any of these videos you see. Let’s work together to stop the abuse

🚨 Groomers, We Need to Talk! 🚨

A worrying trend is circulating on TikTok—pointing a forced air dryer directly into a dog's face. ❌ This is NOT acceptable grooming practice, and as an industry, we need to speak up!

Here’s why this should never be done:
🐶 Causes Extreme Stress – Blasting air directly at a dog’s face can be terrifying and overwhelming.
⚠️ Risk of Eye & Ear Damage – High-pressure air can cause irritation, dryness, or even injury to sensitive areas.
😟 Creates Bad Training Habits – Instead of desensitising dogs to dryers, this method reinforces fear and resistance.

📢 Professional grooming is about skill, care, and respect for the animal’s welfare. No reputable association or grooming expert would endorse this. Let’s educate, not exploit for views.

🚫 Stop the trend. Speak up for the dogs. 🚫

My short and your short are 2 different lengths. That’s why I always ask questions at drop off and try to show blade lengths.

It could take a few appointments for me to get it spot on, but at least I have a blade starting point to go longer or shorter from 💜
