Feels like we've had a bit of a topsy-turvy week with one thing and another this week, and my photo sharing of these beauts has been dismal ... but hey ho 🤷‍♀️😂

Topsy-turvy week and rubbish photo sharing skills or not we have had a fab time full of fantastic walks, ridiculously giddy playtimes and some of the most beautiful, happy faces in the world...not forgetting sooooo much love 🐾❣️

We wish you all a Happy Bank Holiday weekend and we will be back on the walkies trail on Tuesday 🐾 xx

It's been quite a while since this little boy had an off lead run around with his friends while out with me, think we would be going back to our Paddock days which feels like eons ago...but yesterday he did just that, and absolutely loved it 🐾💙

Just a polite and quick reminder to all our poochie friends.........🥰

We are in flea season, yet another joy of the hot weather, and we have at least one case of them within our little Woofs n Whiskers family.

Thankfully and very gratefully I've been made aware and so have been able to put the necessary steps in place to help stop the pesky little so and so's taking up residence on any of our other pooches. All humans potentially involved have been contacted except those on holiday, who will be made aware on their return.

But can I please ask that all pooches who come out to play with us are flea treated regularly and should you notice any 'visitors' that you let me know immediately.

There are much worse things in life but they are the peskiest of pesky things to get rid of and they will feel like they've hit the jackpot where there are multiple 'hosts' to latch on to.

Now I've been made aware that they're on the prowl the van is being treated at the end of each day it is being used and my own dogs checked daily.

Please do the same with your own dogs so we don't start 'going around in circles' with them. Dogs with live fleas on them won't be going on walks with other dogs as far as is possible (fleas are pretty good at hiding) but I will do my best to get them out separately if they are home alone. But by far the best way to help stop the spread is to keep your own dog(s) up to date with regular treatments.

Everybody who knows me knows just how much I love the hot weather and all the 'joy' it brings....not! So for that very reason I've decided to wrap our week up early.

Thank you to all these total little loves for having their walking schedules turned upside down, not least of all my own Harper clan, as we tried our very best to beat the heat and to concentrate on those most in need. Hard for them, their families and myself. Thank you also to the humans who gave their dogs walks up for others who needed it more. It doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated 🥰

That said we've managed some fun along the way, and these faces have just about kept me on the right side of sanity...much as they always do really 🤣❣️

Every time we get a 'heatwave' we all hear and see the pleas around the risks of walking our dogs in the heightened temperatures, the temperature guides, the guides on symptoms of over heating, etc, etc almost to the point of some switching off from these pleas I feel.

Heatstroke is very, very real and a very real potential cause of death. A vet once told me they wait on every hot day for the influx of heat stroke casualties to be brought to them.

This video explains how and why dogs find it much harder than us humans to regulate their body temperature. How the temperatures on our weather forecasts are far lower than the environmental temperatures dogs are actually feeling and their bodies are having to try to regulate.

I'm not going to preach but this video is well worth a watch in my humble opinion. Don't let your dog be a very preventable vet casuality statistic, they're way too precious for that 🥰

And here we go again 🌞🌞🌞😫

As always safety of the pooches scheduled for walkies will be my priority 🐾

If temperatures are as forecasted the following steps will be put into place from tomorrow:

🐾 Pooches home alone will take priority for walkies

🐾 Walkies may take place earlier in the day and may be of a shorter duration

🐾 Should home alone pooches who have had an earlier walk require a toilet break later in the day this can be arranged

🐾 If I feel it is too warm for a walk home visits will be provided for those home alone. Please note these will be of a shorter duration than the walk would have been

🐾 Temperatures will constantly be monitored

🐾 All families of pooches with walks planned will be contacted personally on the day of their scheduled walk should any of the above steps need to be put in place, however please do feel free to contact me should your pooches not be home alone any days this week
