Today’s subject. Immersed plants, if done correctly immersed plants, such as the monstera, spider plant and fern that can be seen in these photos, can be an extremely useful tool in removing unwanted nitrates and impurities from the tank completely. While plants inside your aquarium do an amazing job of removing anything useful to them from the substrate where fish waste or uneaten food can become an Issue such as detritus or harvest algae, plants such as these can remove any and all impurities from your water column to an extent that slow growing epiphyte plants such as Anubias could only dream of! This technique of immersed planting can prevent algae in the early stages of your aquariums life cycle as before any other plants are settled in, these can get to work immediately to prevent that build up of surface algae (algae actually helps us check whether our aquariums are healthy or not, algae on the glass or any decor can actually be a good sign that the tank is thriving but isnt to easy on the eyes so scrape of at your own discretion) while also providing a function, dont they just look incredible, providing another layer of depth to your otherwise limited display creating a natural yet controlled aqua-scape that follows a theme out of the water and up to the sky. As a fish keeper and lover of anything green and leefy I wholeheartedly recommend the use of immersed plants when next creating an aqua-scape. Many thanks for reading and we hope you have learned something 🫶🏻
