PANDA CORYS!!! As a social species, they should be kept in groups of 5 or more. Other peaceful species such as some of the smaller pencilfish, tetra, and rasboras make ideal tankmates, and their presence in midwater will encourage the Corydoras out into view more often. between 6.5 and 8.0, alkalinity between 3° and 10° dKH (54ppm to 180ppm) and temperature between 74° and 80° F are ideal conditions for most captive bred Cory cats and their relatives. Wild caught fish may require a pH of 5.5 to 7.0 and alkalinity below 3° dKH (54ppm).

Today’s subject, What are tannins in water? Tannins are created as water passes through rotting organic matter or peaty soil in the water table. They're also caused by low hanging branches, dead leaves, and trees in a water source. Tannins are basically the color left in water from the leaching of color from organic matter. Tannins are natural materials that aren't harmful to human health. However, tannins give water a tea-like color, musty smell, and bitter taste. At-home DIY kits are available to buy online for testing tannins. For more thorough results, consider using a laboratory tannins test. Fish such as the Aristos going in this tank love tannins as they usually help reduce p.h and encourage softer water, everything that these South American fish need!

CHERRY SHRIMP!!! First addition to the “South American” tank are here, these adorable little creatures have a huge personality while remaining so small. While many different colour morphs do exist such as yellow cherries or blue dreams, in our eyes, you cant beat a good old red cherry. While red cherry shrimp can survive in a wide range of temperatures, they're best kept in water around standard tropical temperatures. They need a pH level of around 6.5 to 8.0 to thrive as well. You should change a portion of your shrimp tank's water weekly to ensure that contaminants and toxins remain at a low level but these guys love dirty tanks fill of algae and biofilm as it is their main food.

That fresh start feeling. Our new fish room in the making starting out with this stunning aqua one nano 80. This tank will be for our pair of Apistogramma Trifaciata and their accompanying act sticking to a South American stocking list. We always recommend you dont mix continents especially when it comes to cichlid and always do your research on what fish can co-exist and in what sized aquarium. This is a 130 litre tank with not only an aio system built in but will be put on the system of all of our other tanks to increase stability and improve the quality of our product. Many thanks again for the support and stay tuned for updates to come on our new aquarium.

Today’s subject. Immersed plants, if done correctly immersed plants, such as the monstera, spider plant and fern that can be seen in these photos, can be an extremely useful tool in removing unwanted nitrates and impurities from the tank completely. While plants inside your aquarium do an amazing job of removing anything useful to them from the substrate where fish waste or uneaten food can become an Issue such as detritus or harvest algae, plants such as these can remove any and all impurities from your water column to an extent that slow growing epiphyte plants such as Anubias could only dream of! This technique of immersed planting can prevent algae in the early stages of your aquariums life cycle as before any other plants are settled in, these can get to work immediately to prevent that build up of surface algae (algae actually helps us check whether our aquariums are healthy or not, algae on the glass or any decor can actually be a good sign that the tank is thriving but isnt to easy on the eyes so scrape of at your own discretion) while also providing a function, dont they just look incredible, providing another layer of depth to your otherwise limited display creating a natural yet controlled aqua-scape that follows a theme out of the water and up to the sky. As a fish keeper and lover of anything green and leefy I wholeheartedly recommend the use of immersed plants when next creating an aqua-scape. Many thanks for reading and we hope you have learned something 🫶🏻

Informational post not sale—

This is Mclaren, our beautiful tri-colour crown tail beta. He’s full of charm and character and is hopefully going to be the father of our first crown tailed betas. While betas have been on the rise in fish keeping, it is important to keep informed about the conditions these majestic fish should be kept in. While yes, more than many they are comfortable with smaller aquarium sizes, as naturally these fish live in plant-crowded ponds and rice patches with almost no room to swim, these fish still enjoy their open swim room where they can show of their superior intellect and colour. Please do ensure that your beta is kept without any fin nipping or even mildly aggressive fish in an aquarium at any size. While betas are known for aggression towards eachother, certain dither fish such as many species of small bodied tetra such as neons or rummy nose are great companions for these centrepiece species. Just ensure that the beta has plenty of shade and plants to hide away in when the world gets just a little bit to much. Overall these are incredible creatures each with their own personality traits, Mclaren here is extremely confident and even likes to play games, so please treat them with the respect they deserve and give them some love ❤️
