Lovely and kind advice from Little Leapers π₯°
This will probably shoot me in the foot, but as always, I want to stay true to myself, to you guys, and most importantly, to my love for these beautiful little creatures. π€π©·
I completely understand the excitement of keeping jumping spiders. Trust me... I KNOW. ππ€£π They are incredible, fascinating, and it's so easy to fall in love with them.
But something that genuinely concerns me is when I see people go from having one or two jumpers to having a large collection in a very short space of time.
Please remember that these aren't collectibles, trends, or the latest hobby craze. They are living creatures that rely on us for their care and wellbeing.
I'm not saying anyone does this with bad intentions at all. Most people start because they love them. But unfortunately, I've seen situations where collections grow too quickly, and its the spiders that pay for this.
Before adding more to your collection, take a moment to ask yourself: β¨ Do I have the space? β¨ Do I have the time? β¨ Can I comfortably afford their care? β¨ Can I give each one the attention it deserves?
Something else to consider is spacing out your 'additions'. Having spiders of different stages of life can be really beneficial. If they're all the same stage of life there's a chance you'll experience multiple losses around the same time in a couple of years, and that's incredibly hard emotionally. π
All I'm really saying is this: slow down, enjoy the spiders you already have, and give yourself a little time before bringing more home.
That small pause can make a huge difference β both for you and for these amazing little creatures that depend on us. π€π©·π«ΆπΌ
