After months of waiting this is scheduled for next Tuesday at 7.30. My beautiful retriever is representing the lovely golden retriever - excited to see where they come in the list (and to see how many seconds our 8 hours of filming has been edited down to)!

Presented by Sara Cox and Ben Fogle, this one-off programme reveals the top 100 dog breeds in the Britain today.

The next time you go to shout NO at your dog, take a minute to read this (or better still, read it now so that you'll know what to do next time you'd normally shout NO)!

It’s almost a reflex. There goes Rover, in hot pursuit of the cat, or gnawing on the sofa, or slurping at your dinner plate, or barking threats at squirrels...and we just need it to STOP, so we sho...

So true. When will people stop trying to make dogs into something they're not and let them just be dogs.

Well worth a read and something to think about in every interaction with your dog.

Leadership: the most dangerous word in dog training “Leadership” is included in almost every dog-related book. Sometimes it is used in archaic and debunked ways, as in “Pack Leader.” Sometimes it i…

Particularly when you’re starting out in your business, it’s very easy to take on any job on any terms, even if doesn’t fit with your ideas of what you really want your business to be about. Perhaps you’ve taken on a client who is out of your ideal area, you’ve accepted a dog for regular dogwalks even if you know deep down that he’s got no manners and will be a nightmare to walk or you’ve offered a discount just because you wanted to get the job.
If there’s one thing I can tell you from years of running my dogwalking and petsitting business, it’s be proud of yourself and the services that you offer. Know the value that you’re offering and don’t be afraid to stick to your guns and run your business in the way you want to and the way you know is right for you. This will give you a business that works for you and will save you a lot of problems as your business grows. Be confident in yourself and your business and this will come across in the way you promote yourself and your business.

3 days this week training a new member of our dogwalking team at Caddington Pet Services. Having to explain to someone what you do is a good opportunity to think about why you do things a certain way and if there is anything that could be changed to work better. It's all too easy when you've done something for years to carry on regardless rather than taking a step back to actually think about what you're doing.

I've just taken in my first foster kitten this year - a very sweet tabby who was born in someone's garden at the end of last year and is already realising that home comforts really aren't that bad after just 2 days with us! As our winters have become milder the traditional kitten season has become more spread out throughout the year rather than the 6 or 7 months we used to get from about Easter to October. Having said that, now is the time of year when the females will start coming into season so if you have stray cats in your area, please contact a local rescue sooner rather than later. It's far easier for us to help you if there are only 3 cats to neuter than waiting until you are overwhelmed with 12 adults plus numerous litters of kittens of varying ages. Bear in mind too that the younger the kittens are when they're taken into care, the easier they are to tame and find forever homes. Please ask if you have any questions or are unsure about what to do to get help.
