5 years ago exactly since I started this as a dog walking business.
In the thick of that global pandemic when we were all asking ‘what is the new normal’
I’d been wanting to do dog walking for some time but I didn’t have the confidence or self belief. But Covid came, I couldn’t work, and everything halted and I didn’t have anything to lose (apart from my pride if it all went wrong) So I took a deep breath, pulled up my big girl pants and decided to go for it!
And I’ll be honest, I didn’t know if it was going to work or not. Little did I know that not only was it going to work, but it would be the start of some huge changes, both in my work life and also in my personal life too!
I have learnt so much from walking other people’s dogs, such as how willing they are to go out of their way to make you look and feel like an incompetent fool, how they never tire of rolling in fox poo, to how much love they give, and how sometimes biggest limitations we have, are those we put upon ourselves!
I’ve also learnt that while we all too often meet ‘rescue cats and dogs where the human has rescued the animal what we less frequently realise is how often it is where an animal has rescued the human ❤️🩹
At different times along the way Sammie, Sally and more recently Becs have been part of the team and I’ll be forever grateful for their hard work, dedication, love and support. Having these ladies on board has been amazing, I have been so blessed to have worked with them all for the time that each of them has given. 😇
As life unfolds and new chapters come around it’s now time to scale back the business. Maggie & Sadie’s Pet Care will no longer be offering dog walking as a service, but will still be here to offer pet sitting.
From the very first to the last I have genuinely loved all of your dogs. I have laughed so much at the funny things they’ve done, I’ve had my patience pushed to it’s limits when they’ve misbehaved, I’ve had my heart broken when they’ve reached the end of their lives, I’ve worried about them when they’ve been poorly, I’ve missed them when they’ve been on holiday and I’m pretty sure I’ve bored most of my friends half to death with all the ‘omg guess what happened in the woods on Monday!’ and ‘you’ll never believe what Mr X did!’ Nothing will ever top standing knicker-deep in a pond trying to untangle a Labrador though! 😂
Thank you for trusting me with your dogs, for lending some of their love and precious time to me, for your patience, your understanding, the laughs over the comedy they bring and the memories I’ll treasure forever
