A brilliant day out for the team! 🚛🏟️

We took Cappie and Blue to arena hire at The Stables Wilstead, and the progress was incredible.

Blue traveled like a complete dream — a world away from the reactive horse who used to kick and stress in the box. 📉➡️📈 At the venue, he was fascinated by the mirror, sticking close to Cappie (who was utterly unbothered, as always!) before confidently exploring alone once she moved away unnoticed. A little spook at the neighbouring chickens was quickly resolved, and he settled right down. 🪞🐔

While Blue observed everything calmly, even held by a child, Cappie enjoyed stretching and letting loose with Jodie on the lovely soft surface, building her strength back, before a great lesson with Jamie-Leigh. 💪✨ All in preparation for building up the workload after a long rehab journey, safe to say Cappie is loving life👌🏻💨

By the end, both were totally relaxed — Blue yawning and dropping off, clear signs of a happy, regulated mind 😴. Loaded back up easily, chores done, and they are now munching away ready for a well-earned day off tomorrow.🥕🌿

Root-marching isn’t always about fear — sometimes it’s about energy. 🌿📈

Luna is familiar and confident with these village routes, yet lately she has become more reactive and desperate to get home. Today our lead trainer got on board and immediately felt the excess energy building up inside her.

We took advantage of a clear stretch of bridleway and let her stretch her legs in their first canter together. It took a moment to collect her and find that balance, but once Luna found her rhythm and lifted through her back, everything changed. She went from "full steam ahead" to soft, connected and working with the rider.

Back on the road, she showed true quality. Even when faced with irresponsible drivers putting them at risk, Luna stayed calm, trusting and focused. She wasn’t spooking anymore — she was working.

This is why we listen to what the horse is telling us. Sometimes the solution isn't more calming, it’s more forward! 🐎🤍

Team work💪🏻

At Earth & Equine, we believe that true desensitisation goes far beyond just introducing objects or sounds—it is about teaching horses how to exist calmly within their whole environment, and that means involving the right teachers and a variety of people. Including older, experienced animals in this process is incredibly valuable; they act as living anchors, carrying a quiet confidence that younger or more sensitive horses naturally look to and copy.

Their steady presence says “this is safe,” helping to lower anxiety and speed up learning in a way that human handling alone simply cannot replicate. Equally important is involving a wide range of people, from adults to children of all ages. Horses are incredibly observant, and they learn that human touch and leadership come in all different sizes, heights, energies, and voices.

When they learn to accept gentle interaction from children, who naturally move differently, make different noises, and have less physical control or strength, they learn to rely entirely on their own mind and their training rather than just reacting to how they are held.

This creates a truly bombproof, safe, and socially aware horse—one who understands that safety and guidance can come from anywhere, and that every interaction, big or small, is an opportunity to stay calm and connected. 🌿✨

Luna vs. The Unknown 🚩➡️✅

Luna continues her desensitisation journey, exploring all sorts of different items and meeting a variety of people along the way. True to her sensitive nature, she started out quite jumpy and alert, questioning every new thing that entered her space.

But as always, we took our time, let her process at her own pace, and showed her there was nothing to fear. Slowly but surely, the tension melted away.

She relaxed, settled in, and realised that what once felt intimidating was actually completely safe. Every time she moves from "worry" to "calm", she proves just how far she has come. 🕊️🌿✨

Blue’s Story: An Anchor for the Mind 🌿⚓

When we first asked Blue to lunge, he was overwhelmed. Scared, reactive, and unsure of what to do with his body, he resorted to kicking, panic and turning into us—his only way of communicating how unsafe he felt.

Instead of pushing him through the fear, we brought in Cappie: an experienced, confident mare who knows the job perfectly. She became his quiet anchor, a living example of calm and clarity.

Step by step, Blue watched her, followed her lead, and slowly synced up, realizing that if she was safe, he was too. This is the power of partnership—using the wisdom of one to settle the uncertainty of another, turning chaos into confidence. 🐴✨

Confidence is contagious. 🌿🤝

Luna is a sensitive soul who can be easily spooked by the unknown. At Earth & Equine, we don't believe in "flooding" a horse with fear—we believe in supporting them through it.

In this session, we introduced a few "scary" objects, from a ribbon wand to a (rather festive!) beer bottle costume. With the combined support of her trainer and her owner, Luna was able to process the stimulus, let go of her tension, and realize she was safe. 🕊️✨

Watching her transition from "ready to run" to "ready to rest" is what building trust is all about.

Building the bridge from the ground to the saddle. 🌿🪶

Luna, our very first client horse, is reaching an exciting new chapter! For Luna, the saddle was a place of uncertainty. When a rider boards, her confidence traditionally dips, leading to defensive behaviours.

Our lead trainer climbed on board this week to begin the ridden work. It started with a little test—a quick attempt to bite the rider’s toes!—but with a calm correction and clear boundaries, she quickly settled.

We corrected the defensiveness and replaced it with communication. She is now learning to move her body based on ridden signals, carrying that ground-work confidence into the saddle.

Luna is realizing that having a rider isn't a reason to worry—it’s just a new way to collaborate. 🤝✨

From "I can’t" to "I can." 🌿✨

Three months ago, Blue didn’t know where to put his body. When asked to move, he was met with confusion and reactivity—his feet were fast, and his mind was even faster. 📉

Fast forward to today: Look at that difference.🐴💎 Blue is now starting to move correctly when asked, finding his own balance, and beginning his journey into lunging—all with a soft eye and a calm heart.

We didn’t just train a movement; we taught him how to find peace in his own body. 🌱💭

Blue: The power of a solid foundation. 🪶

When Blue first arrived from the field, the saddle was a source of fear. Tacking up was a challenge of reactivity and tension. We knew we had to slow down to speed up. 🌿

We went back to basics:
✅ Building trust through in-hand walking.
✅ Exploring the world through hacking.
✅ Validating his feelings every step of the way.

Fast forward to today—the reactivity is gone, replaced by a confident horse who is happy to work. Watching him finding his rhythm in trot and canter is a testament to what happens when you prioritize the horse's mind. 🕊️🐴
