🐾😂 "I am NOT being groomed today!" - Love, Evie 😂🐾

When you're a puppy and all you want to do is play, zoom around the salon and make new friends... working on your grooming manners is definitely not top of the list 😆

And this is exactly why we are such big believers in puppy grooming from an early age ✂️🐶

Puppies aren't born knowing how to stand on a grooming table, tolerate a dryer, have their nails trimmed or sit still for brushing. These are all things they learn over time through positive experiences and gentle introductions.

Our Puppy Pamper Package is designed specifically for puppies from 14 weeks old and gives them the very best start to their grooming journey.

We recommend a minimum of two puppy pamper appointments before moving onto a full groom at around six months old (depending on coat type and how your puppy progresses).

And at the end of each session, we'll give you plenty of advice on:
🐾 Brushing at home
🐾 Coat maintenance
🐾 Handling exercises
🐾 Setting your puppy up for grooming success

Never underestimate how important those early puppy visits are. The time invested now can make a huge difference to how your dog feels about grooming for the rest of their life 💚

Another Taster Day completed!

A big thank you to Justine for joining us for a grooming taster day last week 💚

Taster days are designed for anyone who is curious about a career in dog grooming but wants to experience the industry before committing to training.

During the day you'll:
🐶 Spend time in a real working salon
👀 See what day-to-day life as a groomer looks like
💬 Ask all your questions about training, qualifications and starting a new career

It's a fantastic opportunity to find out whether grooming could be the fresh start you've been looking for.

Many of our students started exactly the same way, with a taster day to see if it was the right fit for them. Fast forward a few months and they're now working towards qualifications, building businesses and doing something they genuinely love 💚

Yesterday was all about helping a fellow groomer take things to the next level 💚

Tyler from Tylers Dog Company joined me for a 1-2-1 training day with gorgeous Poochon, Buddy!

Tyler was looking to elevate his grooming skills, not only within his salon but also as he starts stepping into the world of competitive grooming. And honestly, Buddy was the perfect choice for the job 😍

The thing I love most about our industry is that the best groomers never stop learning. Tyler is already a fantastic groomer, but like all of us, he's continuing to invest in his skills, knowledge and development ✂️

Throughout the day we worked on:
🐾 Perfecting coat preparation and drying techniques
🐾 Understanding the importance of line drying
🐾 Creating straighter, fuller finishes
🐾 Refining scissor work
🐾 Mastering those cute teddy bear faces and legs
🐾 Understanding conformation and how grooming can enhance a dog's overall appearance

By the end of the day, Buddy had been transformed into the most gorgeous teddy bear 🧸😍

And let's be honest... Buddy definitely agreed with the attention 😂

Thank you Tyler for choosing to spend the day with me. I genuinely loved sharing my skills and knowledge, talking all things grooming, and getting to know another passionate local groomer ❤️

And Buddy... thank you for being the perfect model and taking your supervisory duties very seriously 😉

I can't wait to see what you both achieve next, and hopefully see you working your magic in the competition ring soon! 🏆✂️💚

How handsome is this boy?! 😍

This is Woody, a gorgeous Show Cocker who came in for his first hand strip and he is already well on his way to looking absolutely stunning 💚

Hand stripping is a grooming technique specifically designed for certain coat types and breeds, helping to maintain the correct texture, colour and condition of the coat. It can also help reduce shedding and keep the coat healthier over time!

The best part is many owners don't realise their dog's coat could actually benefit from hand stripping rather than clipping.... every dog is different, which is why we always assess the coat and discuss the best option for your individual dog 🐶

A little moment of gratitude… ✨🥹

This week I found out that I’ve been nominated for not one, but TWO awards and honestly, I’m a little bit blown away 💚

In the High Achievement Awards 2026 by I'm A Groomer Get Me Out Of Hair

I genuinely never expected either of these nominations and I’m incredibly grateful to whoever took the time to put my name forward.

When I started The Groomers back in 2018, I was actually an accountant! 📊😆

Fast forward a few years and it’s amazing to look back at what we've built together:

✂️ An award-winning salon
🎓 The official ICMG Training School for South Wales
🐾 Students who have gone on to build careers in the industry
🏆 Competing across the UK and Europe
🇬🇧 Representing Wales as reserve for the World Grooming Championships
💚 Organising The Welsh Grooming Show
👦👦 And somehow raising two boys along the way!

As anyone who runs a small business knows, it isn't always glamorous. There are long days, late nights, mistakes, lessons, risks and plenty of moments where you wonder what on earth you're doing 😂

But there are also amazing clients, wonderful students, incredible friends and a community that supports you every step of the way.

Whether anything comes of these nominations or not, being recognised is something I'm incredibly proud of and it has definitely made me stop and reflect on just how far this journey has come.

So thank you 💚

Important tick reminder for dog owners 🐾⚠️

On Saturday, Luna suddenly became really out of sorts and agitated… and it turned out she had a HUGE tick attached to her ear 😔

With the warmer weather now here and more dogs out in long grass, woods and fields, it’s so important to stay mindful of ticks…. especially because of the diseases they can carry, including Lyme disease.

This weekend I also had the privilege of meeting the amazing guys from the LDUK charity (see the pic!) who are working hard to raise awareness around tick safety 💚

A few important reminders for dog owners 👇

Check over your dog regularly after walks especially around ears, neck, armpits and between toes

If you find a tick, remove it safely using a proper tick remover if possible, never pull or squeeze it

Keep the tick - this is something lots of people don’t realise! Pop the tick into a small bag or container and place it in the freezer.

If your dog (or even you) become unwell afterwards, your vet or doctor may want to identify the tick and check what it could have been carrying.

Just a little reminder to stay extra vigilant this time of year 💚🐾

The sunshine is out… but when should your dog actually be booked in for a groom? 🐶☀️

A few little signs to look out for 👀

Has it been longer than 8 weeks since their last groom?

Can you hear them “clomping” across the kitchen floor? That usually means those nails are getting a little too long and need trimming!

Starting to smell a bit doggy… or looking greasy? Yep… bath time 😂

The BEST thing to keep an eye on is your diary, if it’s been over 8 weeks… this is your reminder to get booked in before the summer rush properly kicks off ☀️

National Rescue Dog Day 💚🐾

This gorgeous boy is Alfie the Cavapoo, rescued at Christmas 2025 and he’s been part of The Groomers family ever since 🐶

When Alfie first came to us… it’s fair to say grooming was a BIG challenge 🙈
His coat was in a bit of a mess, grooming manners weren’t quite there yet, and the whole experience was very overwhelming for him.

But… look at him now! 🥹

His owners have worked SO hard with him over the last year, sticking to regular appointments, building trust, creating routine, and helping him learn that grooming isn’t scary 💚

And this is such an important reminder 👇

Grooming is not about perfection... it’s about patience, trust and working at the dog’s pace.

A groom can only ever be as good, and as safe, as the dog allows us to do.

The progress he has made is absolutely incredible, and we are SO proud of him 🥹🐾

Rescue dogs often come with unknown pasts, fears and experiences… but with consistency, kindness and time, they really can flourish 💚

Happy National Rescue Dog Day to all the wonderful rescue dogs and the owners giving them the second chance they deserve 🐶✨

What a weekend at The Great British Grooming Show! ✂️🏆

A VERY long weekend… but completely worth it 💚

This time up in Wigan I came home with not one… but TWO 3rd placements 🥹✨
And for me personally, that’s a first, placing with both dogs at the same show!

🥉 3rd Place with Bunny the Pomeranian
Huge thank you to my wonderful student Gemma for trusting me with her beautiful girl 💚

🥉 3rd Place with superstar Treacle in Workshop
Another massive class, so I genuinely didn’t expect to place amongst so many incredible groomers and dogs…

The competition world is such a funny thing, you never really know how your day is going to go!

Huge thank you as well to the show organisers, judges and all the amazing brands exhibiting ✨

I’m now absolutely exhausted, very happy, and currently staring at a salon that needs putting back together 😂

Years of clipping takes its toll on your hands, and mine have definitely started suffering recently, so I needed something quieter with less vibration to help save them 🙈

The things we do for these dogs hey?! But we absolutely love it 💚

Every appointment is tailored to your dog, their coat, and what works best for them, but here’s what’s included in our full groom service 👇

🩺 Health check on arrival
🛁 Bath with a minimum of TWO shampoos & conditioner
(Depending on just how muddy, fluffy or adventurous they’ve been 😆)
💨 High velocity dry to remove loose coat & dead hair
✨ Finish dry & full brush through
✂️ Nails trimmed
🐾 Pads cleared
🧼 Hygiene areas clipped

Then onto the styling… whether that’s clipping, sc******ng or shaping to your requested style, whilst also advising what will work best for your dog’s coat and maintenance 💚

And of course… every groom is finished with:
✨ A cute photo
✨ A spritz of cologne
✨ And a cuddle 🥰
