We call it “The Tia Effect” 💤

Meet Tia, one of our newest students here at The Groomers. From the moment she joined us, we noticed something really special, dogs just seem to completely relax around her.

If they’re normally a little wriggly on the table or full of beans, within minutes of being in Tia’s hands, they’re snoozing away, sometimes even curling up at her feet while she works. 🐾

It’s been so lovely to see her grow in confidence already, and we’re so grateful to Lisa Davis for recommending us as her training school. It’s moments like this that remind us how every student brings something unique into the salon, and how our role is to nurture that so they can truly shine.

So here’s to Tia, her calming presence, and to many more happy, sleepy pups under her care. 🐶

Avril’s back! 🎉

She’s in for her final stage of training, getting ready to take her Certified Professional Groomer (CPG) exam in just a couple of weeks.

Here she is with her Member in Good Standing, a proud moment that marks the progress and commitment she’s shown throughout her course.

We put everything into our students here, from hands-on skills and breed knowledge to the confidence they need to step out into the industry ready to shine. It’s never just about passing an exam, it’s about producing groomers who can really do the job to a high standard from day one.

What a night for Team The Groomers at Salon Groomer of the Year! 🥳
• Lauren Roman – 2nd in Asian Fusion Newbies (absolutely smashed it)
• Avril Smith – 3rd in Student Class… and she’s only on day 20 of training!
• Joanne Ackland – 5th in Student Class… and she’s only on day 10!

And me? I only went and bagged 1st in Senior Dog with Sophie the Bichon and took the Group Class win too. 🙌

To top it off, 7-year-old Grayson (Jordan’s son) entered the Junior Class with my Charlie Pops and got 2nd place, using my left-handed scissors like a pro. 🖤

Our students are still in training and already placing in competitions against more experienced groomers. That says everything about their talent, their hard work, and the standard of training here.

Proud doesn’t even cover it. This team works so hard, and seeing it pay off like this is just the best feeling. Huge thanks to Ky Marie for running such a fab competition and making it accessible for everyone!

Meet Summer, a brave little Fox Terrier! ✨

Summer has had quite a journey with her grooming. When she first came to us, she wasn’t keen on being handled at all, making grooming a stressful experience for both her and her owner. But with patience, kindness, and the right approach, look at the difference we’ve made together! 🥹

We started with a one-to-one training day, working alongside Summer’s owner to build trust and teach correct grooming techniques. From a very hesitant start to now, just a few sessions later, we’ve fully hand-stripped Summer’s body, giving her a beautiful groom and most importantly, she’s calm and comfortable. 🐾

We still have a little work to perfect her face trim, but what an amazing transformation so far! This is exactly why we offer Owner Training Days, giving you the knowledge, confidence, and hands-on experience to care for your dog’s coat at home, the right way.

Every once in a while, you see something that completely stops you in your tracks… and this was one of those moments 🩷

These beautiful words were shared by our student Joanne and I just had to share them!

To know that the time, care and energy we pour into our students is not only noticed, but appreciated like this, well, it means the absolute world. 💫

Dog grooming is a career built on trust, patience and passion and to play a part in someone else’s journey into this amazing industry is something I never take for granted.

Thank you so much Joanne, you’ve reminded me exactly why we do what we do. 💕

Friday Fun! When Your Clients Bump Into Each Other… in Barry Island! 🐾💬
We just had to share this moment that gave us all the feels…

Two of our long-term clients (we’re talking years and years!) were out enjoying a walk in Barry Island when they spotted each other and realised their gorgeous Miniature Schnauzers both come to us for grooming! 🐶🐶✂️

We always say our clients are part of a little grooming family, and moments like this prove it.

It’s not every day your dog has a doppelgänger with the same groomer and we’re absolutely here for it!
