It’s so common that I see pigs like this as part of my vet day job! It also makes up a decent proportion of the people who say their ‘mini’ pig isn’t very mini.

The pig on the left is morbidly obese and just like humans is likely to suffer from heart disease and arthritis. It’s also pretty miserable to be so immobile.

Piggies will eat like … well… pigs … if you let them - portion control is important to keep your piggies healthy and happy!

Weight loss success! Look at gorgeous Milton. He’s living his best life yet. His owner was not aware he was over feeding. When he realized, he reduced pellets and made healthier treat choices. Limiting Milton’s favorite treat of watermelon to summers. Now Milton can see and move better.

If you believe you could be under or over feeding your pig join the Ampa healthy weight awareness group here.

🐷Older Micro-Pigs Seek New Homes! 🐷

We have several older pigs seeking new homes.

Some are retired pigs-for-schools guys, others are just sadly left behind when their siblings were sold.

**Rosie and Sons - Striped and pink/spotty**

Rosie is an ex-schools who went on to have a beautiful litter of compact lovely piglets when she was 2, however a year on two of her sons (castrated) are still here with her. We are seeking a home for all three of these guys together. Rosie is a small individual (approx 16 inches at shoulder at 3 years old) and her sons look as though they may be even smaller!

(Rosie pictured leaning on my leg in photo! Sons that are still here are both pink spotty)

**9 month Pigs (5 boys, 1 girl) - Black and Striped with White Patches**

A litter born just before the winter lockdown. Lockdown meant we could not have visitors and no-essential travel means that we couldn't take the piggies anywhere either ... and by 5 months old when lockdowns eased no one wanted older piggies anymore :-( 5 castrated boys and one spayed girl for rehoming. The girl has a laryngeal issue that does not bother her, but will mean that it's important she does not become overweight.

These guys all pictured together having a bottom scratch!

We will request donations for these pigs to ensure the best homes (...to avoid them ending up being used as anything other than pets...). Suggested donations will be £50.

Check out Penny’s piglets’ new posh pig-flap door!:-)

Huge thanks to Bridget and Ettie for taking care of this litter and for making their house so blooming excellent!

These guys are Penny’s piglets will shortly be ready to go! They are all neutered, wormed and super cheeky!

They are currently on holiday with Bridget and Ettie but as soon as they are back we will be accepting visitors for them!

These guys will be £150-200 depending on colour. All available piglets are male castrated.

(Megan the female spayed has what we think is laryngeal paralysis and we are investigating the possibility that she may need surgery for this so she is unavailable for sale and will be rehomed once we have operated on her)

Rosie and her 3 older kids! 🙂 All castrated boys.

These guys are now just nearly 12 weeks old! Mothers are Becca and Katrina Fathered by Bjorn. Becca and Katrina’s Mum (Prawn) and great grandmother are still here, as is grandad Michael (from Woozle farm)!

All males and females from this litter will be castrated/spayed before going to their new homes!

From reliably small and friendly lines, we are pleased to now offer these little guys and girls for sale 🙂

Please remember you need a CPH number to keep a pet pig. We also recommend that piggies go in pairs unless there is already a piggy friend at home as they do not like living alone 🙂

Price dependent on colours. Cost includes neutering before they leave, two worming treatments given before they go, ear tags and vaccinations for erysipelas/clostridia/tetanus.

Prices start at £400- £650.
These piglets will not be sold for breeding purposes 🙂 we are very proud of these guys but as a result we are keen to keep these breeding lines here just for now 🙂
Additional piglets are discounted when buying a pair 🙂

Please pm is if you are interested in these guys! More information to follow on who’s who in this litter!

*** To Pet Piggy Owners and especially Primary Schools who have had piglets visit - Can you help? ***

We are applying for planning permission to stay on our farm for the long term. We have met all the stricter criteria (having a good reason to be here and making enough pennies) but our planning advisor as suggested that we get a few letters of support/recommendation for the different areas of our business/farm. Can you help with the miniature pigs recommendations?

From piggy owners it would be lovely to have a short note just saying when you got your piggy and how they add to your life or the lives of others (I know we have some Therapy pigs in the ranks - it would superb if any of you have a few moments you could spare...)

For schools - we'd love to hear about a time when they visited, and what they added to your classroom or maybe even the way they might have benefited some particular individuals.

We'd also be really appreciative if those of you who might be planning to rent a pig again in the future to add this to your letter :-) It's not a commitment (don't panic I won't drop pigs off at the door) but it's nice if the planners can see that people do want the piggies back once all this pandemic drama is back under control!

We have some cards and photos from the many schools over the years which we'd also love to use in the application. We have been forced to step back from the schools pigs rentals recently - first when there was a swine flu outbreak in Holland altering the rules a little, then because of coronavirus restrictions but we do hope to be back someday.... For now I think we will likely aim for Sept 2021 and have a fresh start then!

🐷 New Piglets!! 🐷

These little guys are Penny’s! Penny is another piggy who has spent lots of time at primary schools with our Pigs for Schools rentals. Sadly they haven’t been able to travel recently but she’s made use of the lockdown for Maternity leave!

Daddy is the handsome pink Michael. Grandad is Bjorn, granny is pepper. Sadly pepper is no longer with us but peppers mummy (great granny!) is still here at a ripe old age of nearly 9!

These piglets will shortly be available to reserve. They will be 8 weeks and ready to go just before Christmas but please be aware we will be extra careful about homes given the time of year (remember a pig is not just for Christmas! Many of them live to ten or older so they are 10 year commitment!:-)
