Bob is lead reactive, and even getting out the front door can sometimes feel like the hardest part of the walk. So instead of rushing ahead, this is what we’ve been focusing on first — calmness before movement.

Starting a walk in a calm state matters so much because excitement, frustration, and tension can build before you’ve even stepped outside. Taking the time to slow things down at the door helps set the tone for everything that follows.

No big corrections, no pressure — just helping Bob learn that calm behaviour is what gets the walk started. Small foundations like this make a huge difference over time.

If you’re struggling with your dog’s behaviour, training, confidence or walks — you’re not alone 🐾

I offer kind, practical 1:1 dog training for dogs of all ages, breeds and sizes, whether you need help with:

• Puppy training
• Lead pulling
• Recall
• Reactivity
• Barking at home
• Confidence building
• General obedience
• Calmness and engagement

My focus is always on building better understanding, calmer behaviour and a stronger relationship between you and your dog ♥️

☀️🐾 HOT WEATHER REMINDER FOR DOG OWNERS 🐾☀️

With temperatures rising, it’s important to remember that daytime walks can quickly become dangerous for our dogs. Hot pavements can burn paws in seconds, and overheating can happen much faster than people realise.

🚫 Walks are NOT recommended during the hottest parts of the day — stick to early morning or later evening outings when temperatures are cooler.

Here are some easy ways to help keep your dog safe, cool and happy at home during the heat:

💧 Keep fresh, cool water available at all times
🧊 Offer frozen treats, stuffed Kongs or lick mats
🌊 Let them cool off with splash pads or paddling pools
❄️ Use cooling mats or damp towels
🧠 Try indoor enrichment and short training sessions
🏡 Keep rooms cool with fans, shade and closed curtains

⚠️ Watch closely for signs of overheating:
Heavy panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, wobbling or collapse. If you’re worried, contact your vet immediately.

Your dog doesn’t need a long walk every day in extreme heat — keeping them safe always comes first. ❤️

Stay cool and stay safe everyone! 🐶

Nola is a Romanian rescue who has always struggled with confidence, particularly around men, as well as reactivity towards other dogs.

When we first started working together, walks were extremely challenging. Nola was previously walked on a slip lead, there was constant tension on the lead, very little engagement with her owners, and very limited lead handling and loose lead walking skills in place. Her focus was often on the environment and triggers around her, making everyday walks stressful and overwhelming.

Fast forward to now, and the progress she has made so far has been incredible to watch. Through ethical training and positive reinforcement, we’ve focused heavily on engagement, confidence building, calm responses around dogs, disengagement skills, lead handling, and helping Nola feel safer navigating the world around her.

Alongside training, her owners have also done an amazing job incorporating plenty of decompression walks, long line freedom and secure dog park sessions to help relieve frustration, lower stress levels and allow Nola to properly decompress between training sessions. That balance has played such an important role in her progress and emotional wellbeing.

There’s still ongoing progress to be made, but she truly is becoming a different dog. Her owners should be so proud of themselves for the consistency, patience and dedication they’ve shown throughout this journey so far 🤍

We’re now coming towards the end of our one-to-one sessions together, with just one session left to go, and I’m really looking forward to seeing them again next week 🐾

Massive progress from Phoebe & Atlas throughout their training journey so far ♥️

We started with tension on the lead, strong reactions towards other dogs, and difficulty disengaging from the environment. Through consistent real-life training using ethical methods and positive reinforcement, Atlas is now walking much more calmly on a loose lead, showing better engagement, and becoming far more responsive around dogs.

Still a journey, but they’ve both come such a long way already 👏

With temperatures rising, it’s so important that we adjust our walks, training and routines to help keep our dogs safe and comfortable ☀️

A few degrees can make a huge difference to our dogs, especially for puppies, senior dogs, flat-faced breeds, and dogs with thick coats. Heatstroke can happen much quicker than many people realise, even during shorter walks or training sessions.

Remember to:
• Walk during cooler parts of the day
• Keep sessions shorter when needed
• Provide plenty of fresh water
• Check the temperature of the ground before heading out
• Prioritise shade, rest, and recovery

There’s absolutely no harm in slowing things down during warmer weather. Our dogs’ welfare always comes first 🐾
