⭐Pet of the month⭐ as voted by vet Debbie 😘

This is my wee Millie the miracle 💕 Millie really is a wee miracle because she was adopted from the Milton dog and cat home by her lovely owner back in 2018. Unbeknown to everyone, Millie had a congenital skull malformation which caused her brain to herniate. She started seizuring and at one point the Glasgow vet school advised the only option was to put Millie to sleep. But through medication and a heroic effort by her mum, Millie is still with us and loving life ❤️ She is the sweetest, gentle wee dog and we all love her to bits (and her mum) 🥰
She is the perfect pet of the month ❤️

Poor Pablo is feeling the Summertime itch 🌞 so his mum brought him down for his medicated bath at the Bearsden clinic 🛁 We have self-service baths in both Bearsden and Muirhead and provide regular shampoos, towels and a blow drier to save your own bathroom getting too grotty! 😎

🔬 For our final week of Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month we're highlighting one of our most vital behind-the-scenes skills: laboratory work and sampling.

From collecting the perfect blood sample to spinning down a centrifuge and reading results, vet nurses are the backbone of in-house diagnostics. 🩸

Here's just some of what we do every single day:
🧪 Sample collection — venepuncture, urine collection, ear cytology, skin scrapes. Precision, patience, and excellent patient handling every time.
🔍 In-house analysis — haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis, blood smears. We don't just run the machines — we understand what we're looking at.
📦 External lab prep — correct tubes, accurate labelling, packaging and liaising with labs to get answers fast for our patients.
📊 Interpreting & communicating results — flagging abnormals, supporting vets with clinical decision-making, and keeping owners informed.

Good diagnostics saves lives. And behind every result is a vet nurse who collected, processed, and cared about that sample from the moment it left the patient. 💙

This month, we celebrate the skill, knowledge, and dedication that veterinary nurses bring to every single shift.
