Surviving with just the open fire for heat!

Walked at Hedgerley Lane woods yesterday and was surprised to see that they obviously caught fire during the drought, but luckily it didn’t spread much as a big wood.

Lockdown changes rules for salon dog grooming: stay at home and D(og)IY unless it's welfare status.

Did you know that trips to the dog groomers are now restricted to welfare cases only? Here are some tips on home dog grooming. https://www.thedoghousebucks.co.uk/post/dog-grooming-during-lockdown-change-of-rules-pet-industry-federation-pif-response-to-defra-r

The Government has advised professional dog groomers to only deal with genuine welfare cases, stating it should not ‘be business as usual’. This is applicable to dog groomers working in any environment, home based, high street, or mobile, who undertake home visits.

How to safeguard against dognapping - my blog article

This month I have been prompted to blog on the distressing subject of dognapping, which has been on the rise since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Reports of suspicious behaviour and dog theft in Bucks are on the rise. Dog owners, kennels and dog minders such as myself need to be ever more vigilant.

Kindly share this article which includes prevention measures and what to do if the worst happens.

Distressingly, UK dognapping has been on the rise since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. With many people now working from home, the companionship of a dog has become an attractive prospect leading to high demand for both puppies and dogs - prices have rocketed, and so with it thefts. There’s a...

Dog Fireworks 🎇 Advice

Lastly, at night try to make sure your dog has had their walk before fireworks start going off. Let them have a big walk in the morning and a short one when you get home from work, (or can escape from that home office!) for example, so that you can avoid being out walking a dog when they go off.
(Don’t stop walking the dog just because the dark nights are here, by the way - that’s not fair!)

Find your dog a nice place in the middle of the house make sure windows are closed to minimise noise. Leave the radio or TV on if you go out.

Mastering the Art of Loose-Leash Walking: Part 1

Don’t get pulled about. How to get your dog to walk to heal.

Walking your dog should be fun and enjoyable for all. Loose-leash walking (LLW) means your dog is calmly walking near you on leash while still being allowed to explore, sniff and enjoy the outdoors within the leash length, without pulling, tugging or lunging. As we all know, this can be challenging....

Petition: Limit the Sale and Use of Fireworks to Organisers of Licensed Displays Only

Remember, remember, on the 5th of November many dogs and other pets and wildlife will be traumatised by fireworks.

Current legislation allows for public use of fireworks 16 hours a day, every day, making it impossible for vulnerable groups to take precautions against the distress they can cause. Better enforcement of existing law is insufficient; limiting their sale & use to licensed displays only is necessary.
