Medium gold regional qualification done for Active Nuvolari ✅
4 tests and 4 overall wins over the last couple of weeks feeling much more established at this level. We’re lucky to have Fairoak Grange Equestrian so close to home putting on some lovely shows and managed to avoid the worst of the weather today!
Thank you Charlotte Smithwhite Dressage for getting us there today, pic of Debbie Preece loading the little champ!

Active Nuvolari and I are Spillers medium silver freestyle reserve national Champions! 🥳 so proud of Purdey who was such a star all week and added to her 5th place in the Medium silver straight class.
Our prep for this years nationals has been almost non existent with all the lorry drama and we had never had a full run through our floor plan before we stepped in the ring so what an achievement for her still being very inexperienced at this level!

Huge thank yous as always to friend, trainer and mentor Charlotte Smithwhite Dressage who has done so much physically and mentally to get us there.
We literally wouldn’t have got there without Air Horse One who amazingly hired me their lorry for the whole week to get back and forth, Alison Reynolds who supplied a beautiful caravan for us to stay in for the week. Evie Brandt who lent me a lorry for our only long arena run through at Fairoak Grange Equestrian
Purdeys team OnPoint Physio, Craig Tordoff, Peter Thurlow, Ferrier-Russ Saddle Fitting and chief baby wrangler Rosemary Harper are always amazing and keep me and the horses all running.
A week at nationals with a baby in tow has been challenging logistically but we all had so much fun and loved seeing so many friendly faces.

This does change our summer plans a bit as I hadn’t planned riding ourselves out of medium silver in only 10 outings 😂 but time to get those changes nailed on now! My HOLLAND COOPER jacket was brand new for this show as a birthday present for myself but is definitely here to stay as my lucky bit of show kit.

Also a special thanks to class sponsors SPILLERS for supplying such generous prizes!

Nationals day 1, we had some WEATHER to contend with! It couldn’t have been a very restful night for Purdey as the temp stables sounded like they were going to take off and down at the ring the flags were cracking away in the wind. I was 4th to go and by that point the arenas had already been held twice as the roof was blowing off a judges hut and the boards had to be sand bagged down!
A sweet test in the elementary with a mistake and some understandable tension creeping in left us top third in a big class but P felt happy to be there and keen to get on with the job.
One overnight stay with baby Tom down and we all head back home for a night ready to come back for day 2 on Friday
Air Horse One getting us there and back each time!

Very sad to say goodbye to CLF Kash as he moves on to his new home ❤️ the most lovely character I think I have ever worked with, I don’t think I ever had a bad day with him!
Bred by Catherine Hanna at Chisum Lea Farm he came over to us from Ireland as a yearling and was a delight to work with right through his education. He never went on the open market but has found a super home where he will get to have lots of adventures in the King’s back garden, good luck Kash and James!

I’m taking advantage of the lunge pen at APRIL FARM to bring Kaleb back into work, he was a spicy little critter of a young horse and has had a good few months off while I’ve been concentrating on some of the others so it’s a huge bonus to be able to get back on in a bit more of a contained space! 🫣
CLF Kaleb is the oldest of Fashionista’s babies and is big brother to CLF reflection and Fantastico so it’s quite exciting to get cracking with him and get a flavour of what this little family have in store for me! He’s been taken very slowly mainly due to logistics but as an absolute giant of a horse I don’t think it will have done him any harm in the long run and it will be really interesting to see how he improves in the next few months.

Wellington Regionals!
I knew this time round the prep just wasn’t going to be fully cooked, baby Tom is an excellent horsey baby but my own horses have understandably had to be picked up and put down over the last 6 months, Purdeys regional preparations weren’t helped by banging her leg in the stable and having the week before off!
So all in all it was a fair result to finish 6th/8th in the elementarys and 4th/7th in the mediums. I was disappointed we didn’t get to show where we were with the training but I’ve got to remember it’s a great achievement to qualify and go for 4 classes.
Huge thanks to Charlotte Smithwhite Dressage, we wouldn’t have got there at all without your help!

Such a beautiful morning to be back out jumping at Tedworth Equestrian Centre in the sunshine! Kash had a great jump round the British novice and it was very nice to not be battling the weather at a show for a change!
