The clocks have gone back - what better time to start planning a dark sky adventure in the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere! Last week's mailout from VisitScotland highlighted top stargazing sites with Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park heading the list. This was one of the world's first Gold-Tier International Dark Sky Parks - areas committed to protecting the night sky by controlling light pollution.

Whether you live locally or will be visiting, Biosphere businesses and attractions, and Biosphere Guides, offer a unique dark sky experience that can be made bespoke for you or your group. Glentrool, the only village within Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park, is one of our designated Biosphere Communities, where you can stay sustainably in Biosphere-certified accommodation.

Creeside Escape Shepherd's Hut - Experiential, Sustainable and Close to Nature

Fresh air, dark starry skies, peace & quiet whilst staying in a traditional shepherd's hut on our farm.

Our hut is sited with uninterrupted views of the River Cree and the Galloway Hills in the distance. On warmer summer evenings relax outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery, but if it’s wet and windy retreat inside where you will be warm and toasty beside the wood buring stove.
