A rare trip away to the Lake District last night.

Me R and I were delivering some cattle to so we made the most of it and stayed overnight with friends in their beautiful home. We had a bit of a busman’s holiday and moved some cattle down the narrow lanes, and were then treated to a delicious dinner, wonderful company, and a great night’s sleep.

We came home feeling relaxed, refreshed, and grateful for a little change of scenery and some time together. ❤️

This mornings 5 minute bird count at the shepherd’s hut after changeover.

Just sitting quietly with a coffee listening to the chorus of birds around me. One of those simple moments that makes you stop and smile.

Definitely worth the walk! 🥾

If you're looking for the perfect walk this summer, you can enjoy a beautiful hike around the Water of Minnoch and visit one of the most photographed places in the region, tucked away in the Galloway Forest Park.

Creeside Sapphire with her latest heifer calf. She’s had 6 heifer calves in a row, including twin heifers one year. She’s definitely a keeper 💕

Tonight’s guests in the shepherd’s hut have come specially for a spot of stargazing and even requested extra binoculars 🔭✨ Nothing is ever too much trouble for our guests.

We’re tucked away in a Dark Skies Park, so when the weather behaves, the night skies here are absolutely incredible. The kind of skies that make you stop, stare and completely lose track of time.

Fingers crossed for a clear night so they get the full show 🌌

One of my favourite little rituals after cleaning the shepherd’s hut. I sit down outside with my coffee for five quiet minutes, open .bird.id and simply listen.🪶

This morning’s soundtrack was lots of birds calling from every direction and that feeling of complete peace you only really get outside in nature.🌿

It’s amazing what you notice when you stop rushing for a moment and just listen. 💚
