Meet - Lottie - Vet Nurse

Our team is growing! We are delighted to announce that our team of Vet Nurses is now 5 strong.

Lottie joins us on her return to work from maternity leave having previously worked within a local veterinary practice.

A little about Lottie in her own words:

Hi, I’m Lottie! I have just joined Brannam Vets following maternity leave after welcoming my first son, Sunny. I’m so happy to be back doing a job I genuinely love.

I’ve always had a passion for animals and conservation, which led me to complete a BSc in Zoology. My love of travel then took me around the world, where I volunteered on street dog sterilisation and welfare projects— these experiences remain so close to my heart. It was during one of those adventures in Thailand that I rescued my two dogs, Minnie and Joss, who made the journey home with me and are now very much part of the family.

Six years ago, I settled in beautiful Devon, which quickly became home, and then retrained as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

One of my favourite things about being a veterinary nurse is that no two days are ever the same. I love getting to know each patient as an individual, supporting their owners, and helping make every visit as positive and stress-free as possible.

When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me at the beach with my family and dogs, hiking, running, or getting creative with a bit of origami!

🐶 Cute puppy alert!! 🐶

This is the very handsome Stanley who has been in to see us 3 times in recent weeks for his primary vaccination course.

The second photo is with nurse Tina receiving a post injection cuddle!

As a member of our Brannam Family Plan all of Stanley’s vaccinations and parasite treatment are included within the plan.

If you are interested in finding out more about our plan see our website (https://brannamvets.co.uk/brannam-family-membership/) or give the practice and call and speak to one of the team (01271 449000).

Meet Ginny (keeping cool in the shade at home today). This young labrador recently needed major surgery carried out by Craig to remove one of her major salivary glands after the salivary duct leading to the mouth got damaged.

This led to saliva pooling under the skin resulting in swelling below her jaw. This is not uncommon but what makes Ginny’s case unique is the fact that she was born with an extra jawbone and salivary gland on that side.

Part of this bone was removed at a younger age when a tooth poked out through the skin but the remaining bit had gone on to produce an extra adult tooth (can you spot it on the X-ray). This was just sat in a cavity in the bone but we removed it to prevent future issues.

The extra salivary gland also needed removing resulting in a lengthy, 5-hour, procedure. Ginny took this in her stride however and has gone on to make a remarkable recovery.

Thankfully we don’t envisage the need for any further surgery.

Puppies!

We recently held our latest puppy social and here are some pictures of the gorgeous puppies who attended.

We’ve been really please with the feedback from clients and we have had a lot of fun introducing your puppies to our practice.

We are very happy to have Sharon from Paws Control Dog Training running these socials and providing training advice.

We continue to hold socials each month. Your puppy can attend if they have had their first vaccination. If you would like more information, please call the practice on 01271 449000

May is veterinary nurse awareness month. 💚

At Brannam Vets we are lucky to have a team of 4 fantastic Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) - Kaylie, Alice, Dani and Tina.

We thought we would use the awareness month to highlight some of the key roles our nursing team undertake within the practice.

One of those is the care they provide for our surgery day patients before, during and after their procedures.

The pictures below show Alice monitoring an anaesthetic. All our anaesthetics are closely monitored by our qualified nurses with various parameters being observed and recorded during each procedure.

6 months old!

Sunday marked 6 months since we first opened our doors and we can’t believe we’re halfway through our first year already.

Firstly, thank you to our fantastic team as without you this would not have been possible.

Also, to everyone who has registered with us, the response has been so positive and your feedback means so much to us.

As a reminder, we continue to offer a free first vet consultation for all pets registered with us.

If you’re thinking of joining us we are more than happy for you to to come in and see the practice and meet the team, please just phone us in advance (01271 449000) so we can arrange a convenient time
