Just like humans, dogs have their own personality and their own mind. Of course, within that we can modify some of their behaviour just like we can learn and modify our own. But it's important to be realistic about who your dog is at their core.
They don't owe you anything. And if you brought them into your life with an expectation that they're not meeting, that's a you problem.
When we accept our dog for who they are and work with that, the relationship really shifts.
Comment one thing below that you really love about your dog's personality 🥰

✨ See you there ✨

When I started Yorkshire Pooches Therapies I had a dream, to make the world a nicer place for dogs. That dream is still the same but continually grows with my soul mission to make the world a nicer place for PAINFUL dogs.

To be asked to speak at Dog Behavior Conference 2026 is a phenomenal opportunity to share the canine pain message and incredibly humbling.

Early bird registration is open now, 17-19th April I will be delivering my lecture,

Making a Right Dog’s Dinner of it: The role between canine pain and nutrition.

My heart sings when I lecture on canine pain and canine nutrition… imagine how excited I will be to tackle BOTH topics in one lecture.

Never let your mini me dreams fade, the universe always has a plan ✨

🐾 F*ck Fireworks 🐾

The same disagreements occur on socials every year about fireworks. I’m not being a huge fun sponge and saying NO fireworks, but if they were just kept to licensed displays so that you could map out dates near your home and prep.

Noise sensitivity is a HUGE behavioural indication I see with many of the dogs I work with… PAINNNN

Big bang made them jump.
That shock caused a shoot of acute pain.
Dog now thinks all big bangs cause pain.

Obviously it is far more complex than that but you get the gist. So no matter how much we prep, desensitise there are going to be some dogs that slip through the cracks because ultimately fear is a primal response.

I was once recommended by a trainer many moons ago not to comfort Rodney because it will make him worse. I think about that one year I didn’t comfort him, well it haunts me in fact. He has done SO much better with years of compassion and support… almost like that advice was indeed a crock of s**t.

Comfort your dog if they need it want it, this will look different for every dog.

You all know the super safe precautions, lead on in the garden, don’t walk in the dark, be mindful when you open your front door etc.

Skullcap & Valerian liquid and tablets is GREAT for that natural support

🐾 I told a fib 🐾

Loads winds me up 😂

🚗 Not being able to find a parking space
💩 People not picking up after their dogs
✍️ Loosing pens when I have MILLIONS

Most of all though is when having mild presentation of an orthopaedic condition is mistakenly used to quantify “little or no pain”

The mind baffles, the DOG decides how painful something is. So let’s reframe this, you have your mild presention on x-ray now let’s take a look at the whole body picture. Only then can we start to draw a hypothesis on a dogs pain levels, because it’s only the dog who truly knows.

My exclusive day seminar You Can’t Train Away Pain covers whole body systems… and I MAY run another cohort before the end of the year. Drop me a dm if this sounds like a bit of you!

✨ Lily is retiring ✨

Me and my beautiful girl have done so much together and I couldn’t be prouder of her.

4 Crufts together, 3 with the amazing team. Numerous events as my sidekick and demo dog.

This year something was different, and it THREW me! What do you mean you don’t want to demo Lily?! It was a firm no at Crufts. We gave it one more go at a smaller show with a bigger table and it was a big NOPE.

She’s had enough of shows, I don’t blame her they can be very overwhelming despite plenty breaks, quiet time and one demo max per day.

Part of me is really sad this chapter has come to a close because I just adore her so much and want to take her with me wherever I work. Ultimately though Lily decides and she has said she’s done.

I will treasure every single moment we have worked together, they mean the world to me. Spreading the canine pain message and educating on the benefits of canine massage.

Here are some pictures of my diamond girl at her last show before retirement. ✨

💙 Signing Out 💙

This is my attempt at getting a group photo with my babies, I think it perfectly sums us all up 😂

Most of you will know I run a small zoo at home, and Nancy my beautiful Guinea Pig. Nancy passed at home in my arms on Sunday night, although my heart hurts immensely I’m thankful that we could all be with her till the end.

Nancy is a little pioneer of Guinea pigs using Photizo and is even published in a book on Photobiomodulation… the gal was always destined to be a star.

I will stop waffling now.

I do a big detox from my phone over the Christmas period, in fact I switch it off so I can recharge.

Sending you all so much love, thank you for all your support and trust looking after your amazing pooches.

Lots of love, Yaz, Lily, Rodney and Peggy xx

Ooo I LOVE diving into this branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine and it’s so easy to implement aspects of this into every part of your dog’s diet. As part of my qualification in Food Energetics, I had to make Hoof Soup. Imagine a boujee bone broth, energetically balanced and the dogs loved it!

Want to see the recipe and how I made it? Comment BOUJEE for a link to a video so you can have a go!

Our Story

Merishia Massage is a soft tissue approach, working deeply yet gently, incorporating mobilisations, while working appropriately with the animal’s body language responses to help release areas of tension, aid and improve range of movement, and with the aim of enhancing overall emotional and physical health. Merisha Massage can be used before and after competitively showing or working your dog, after surgery to aid recovery or improve general well being.
