📢 Agility Arena Update 📢

As we reach the end of the season, we’ll be taking a break between April and September, as bookings are quieter during this period. This gives us a great chance to make some exciting improvements to the agility arena! ✨

⏳ Apologies to anyone who was looking forward to us reopening this week—we appreciate your patience! ❤️ We’ll be back open to the public on September 1st for the start of the Autumn/Winter season 🍂❄️

🪑 Seating Upgrade!
One of the first changes is a new seating area—we’ve swapped out the four leather sofas for easy-to-clean plastic chairs ✅ A huge THANK YOU to Hazel 🙌 for sourcing these magnificent plastic chairs from Barnard Castle! 🏰 The old sofas are gone, the area where they were has been fully disinfected and raked out 🧼🧹, and the new chairs are in place, making for a much more practical and hygienic seating space.

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back in September! 🎉 Stay tuned for more updates 👀✨

🚨 Further Update on the Agility Arena 🚨

We want to keep everyone informed with the latest information regarding our reopening plans.

Following further research and discussions, we have learned that dogs affected by parvovirus can continue shedding the virus for up to four weeks after recovery. While we had initially aimed for a provisional reopening on March 4th, we now recognize the importance of taking extra precautions to ensure absolute safety.

🆕 New Reopening Date: Wednesday, March 19th

This revised date aligns with the guidance provided by the PDSA, which many in the agility community are referring to as a trusted source. The infected dog was discharged from the vets on February 19th, meaning this extended timeline will allow for the full four-week period to pass before any dogs return to the arena.

Why March 19th?

✔️ Ensures a full four-week period since the infected dog’s recovery, as per PDSA recommendations.
✔️ Provides extra confidence that no virus remains in the environment.
✔️ Allows us to maintain the highest possible safety standards for all dogs attending.

We appreciate that this is a challenging situation for everyone, and we are incredibly grateful for your patience and support. While this delay comes at a financial cost to us, the health and safety of your dogs will always come first.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ll continue to keep you updated as we get closer to reopening.

🚨 Important Update on the Agility Arena 🚨

We’ve now had confirmation that the illness was parvovirus. Thankfully, the vets have said recovery has gone well, and the other dogs—who were separated as soon as symptoms appeared—have now been cleared after 13 days with no signs of infection.

We know this isn’t the news anyone wanted, and we truly appreciate your patience and support. Our top priority is making sure the arena is 100% safe before reopening. Based on veterinary advice, we’re aiming for a provisional reopening date of Tuesday, March 4th. This allows for two full weeks since any dog has been near the arena, ensuring we’ve taken every precaution possible.

⚠️ Why March 4th?
✔️ Two-week incubation period for parvo – this ensures we’re beyond the risk window.
✔️ No dogs have been in the arena since the infected dog showed symptoms – reducing any potential spread.
✔️ Deep cleaning and extra safety measures have been put in place.

Thankfully this seems to be an isolated case and no other dogs that have attended Laverock have shown any symptoms

We’ll keep you updated as we get closer to reopening. Thank you for your patience and support.💙🐶

Day 3 of disinfecting done 👍

19/02/2025

🔔 Agility Arena Update 🔔

The agility arena was deep cleaned last night as part of our ongoing efforts to follow strict disinfection protocols.

We also have a promising update on the dog—he made a full recovery overnight, which is uncharacteristic of Parvovirus. The owners are currently waiting for lab test confirmation after the initial vet test, so fingers crossed there’s a chance it wasn’t Parvo and the dog has a bright and healthy future ahead of him.

In the meantime, we will continue with the protocols set out by Barnard Castle Vets, carrying out deep cleans for three consecutive days using Anigene Professional Disinfectant.

The arena will remain closed for the foreseeable future as we prioritize the safety of all dogs.

Thank you for your patience and understanding—we’ll provide further updates as soon as we have them.

‼️ IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ‼️

Effective immediately, the Dog Agility Arena will be closed until further notice to follow safety protocols due to a dog diagnosed today with Parvovirus. This dog was in the arena on the 9th and 11th of February for around 1 hour on both occasions.

While vaccinated dogs are generally protected, there have been cases of a suspected new strain affecting even vaccinated dogs. We must take every precaution to prevent the spread of Parvovirus.

We will be conducting multiple deep cleans of the area with professional disinfectant as set out in protocols from Barnard Castle Vets.

⚠️ If your dog shows any signs of illness—vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, or lethargy—please seek veterinary care immediately. Early treatment is crucial.

We apologise for the inconvenience but appreciate your understanding as we prioritise the health and safety of all dogs.

For any questions, please reach out to us directly. Stay safe and take care!

fresh clean high pressure spring water delivered this way is a much better solution than creating low pressure lakes in the sand. Even distribution and absorbs straight in 👍
