Puppies and buying puppies.
I feel this post is needed after a recent local puppy farm passing "planning for a dog breeding facility" in planning it stated they will be breeding cockapoos and other cross breeds commercially.
As you know I just recently had our first litter and by all means I'm no expert. However that being said I've owned dogs and been in the industry a while.
It is up to us now as owners to be responsible for buying responsibly to ensure we don't contribute to lining pockets of the people breeding these poor dogs with no health testing, no ethics and no proper care.
It won't be the first or last time a client came to me with a puppy with shady back ground on where they have been bought from. It is completely legal to buy and breed from these supposedly council approved facilities. They often have multiple bi***es and dogs being bred and bred. No thought or care about their health or potential puppies let alone the mental well being or health of the breeding dogs and puppies.
A council approved or even kennel club registered dog does not equal well bred and it does not even mean it's been properly health tested.
Please do your research, please never buy a puppy without seeing the mother and puppies. Find out what health testing is required for your breed on kc website. Do your research if that breed is suitable and potentially are your right for that breed?
Remember these big operations will have people fronting up and may even move a litter and mum to a home where they are not kept to fool potential buyers where they may actually be kept in lots of kennels in sub adequate conditions.
Watch for multiple ads on pets4homes, ads on free ads or preloved
Multiple numbers being used and multiple litters being advertised
Do ask lots of questions and don't be afraid to walk away.
