All of your dogs are checked after walks to make sure they’re clear of grass seeds, unfortunately some of the little blighters may evade me!

Please make sure you’re checking your dogs regularly they are starting become almost impossible to avoid!

🐍 Adder Bites 🐍

As the weather is warming up, here is a timely reminder what you should do if you suspect your pet has been bitten by an adder 👇

Adders are the only venomous snakes native to the UK, they are usually shy and prefer to hide away from people and animals. They can be found in sand dunes, hillsides, rocky areas, moors and woodland. Adders hibernate from October and usually emerge from hibernation during early springtime.

🐍How will I know my pet has been bitten?

If your pet has been bitten by an adder you may see two clear puncture wounds on your pet, though this is not always visible. You may notice a rapid and progressive swelling, signs of pain, lethargy or vomiting, bruising, bleeding and collapse.

🐍What should I do?

If you ever suspect your dog may have been bitten by an adder it is important to remain calm, do not touch the bite or apply a tourniquet ❌

Instead, keep them as still as possible – if you can you should try and carry them back to the car – this will help prevent the venom from spreading throughout their body. When it is safe to do so, call your vet as soon as possible 📞
