Four Hooves

Four Hooves Experienced & qualified freelance equine groom, fully insured through The British Grooms Association She also had 110 sheep who I assisted in the care of.

I am a qualified freelance equine groom and experienced dog owner, providing an equine care & dog walking service to my local community.

**Temporary Closed!!! On Maternity Leave**

BIO:
After leaving school I entered the equine industry carrying out my apprenticeship at a riding stable/livery yard. Here I gained my SVQ's level 2 and level 3, both in horse care & management with riding. From her

e I went on to Bishop Burton College to study Equine Management, Business & Equitation where I gained my degree in Equine Science. Whilst studying I gained more experience working for Summit Media at their Polo Yard, at weekends during my first year. I went on to work on the college yard over the summer along with working at an equine only veterinary practise covering a period of staff illness & holidays. On completion of my degree I went on to work as an assistant manager for a private showing yard in North Yorkshire where I looked after 7 horses, helped with backing youngsters and bringing others back into work and ready for competition. I now own my own thoroughbred ex-race horse who has been part of my life over the last 8 years, and a little Welsh Section A who I took on from World Horse Welfare approximately a year ago. Having owned my own dogs for many years and having dogs as part of my family my whole life I decided it was time to incorporate them into my working life as well! Business Goal:
My aim for each client is to enhance quality of life for your equine or pet. I would like to meet all clients before or at first bookings along with their owners to get to know their own routines so I can keep these the same as much as possible to try and reduce any unnecessary stress which could be created by someone new entering their environment. Infection Control:
In light of our ever changing environment I require customers to advise if they are feeling unwell before I enter their premises. In event of someone with covid-19 (or a similar strain) needing help caring for their animals, I will wear full PPE when around them and leave my used PPE for that client to dispose of with along their house hold waste on my departure. I will also regularly use hand sanitizer where hot water is not available to wash my hands between clients from different locations, along with gloves and other items of PPE if I feel are necessary to protect you as my client and myself (along with my family). I have also been vaccinated against COVID-19.

*This service has public liability insurance and 3rd party insurance, to cover against any unforeseen situations. I am also a member of the British Grooms Association, my insurance for freelance work is through KBIS*

Would you recognise a case of colic if you saw it?

Did you know, colic is one of the most common causes of death in horses? Colic is a potentially life-threatening disease, so it is important that you contact your vet immediately if your horse is showing any of the following symptoms:

πŸ‘‰ Restless and agitated – e.g. trying to lie down, repeatedly rolling
πŸ‘‰ Abdominal pain – e.g. kicking at the belly, pawing at the ground
πŸ‘‰ Eating less or fewer (if any) droppings being passed
πŸ‘‰ Increased heart rate, rapid breathing, abnormal gum colour, or abrasions over the eyes
πŸ‘‰ Tired or lethargic – e.g., lying down more than usual, dull, and depressed

If you would like further advice on colic, you can call our friendly advice team on 01953 497 238

We are thinking of the Mounted Police, Household Cavalry, the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery and all the service men and women, who have been working so hard to prepare the horses ahead of the Queen’s funeral procession.

Thank you for your service, dedication, and impeccable turnout.

You are all in our thoughts during this period of national mourning.

So my life has been rather busy since Matthew joined us 8weeks ago, but how time has flown!! He has been enjoying the company of his big brother, and meeting all our animals. Little Matthew has also been joining me on dog walks and helping me bring Little Harry pony back into work so hopefully his older brother can enjoy some lovely rides on him over the summer holidays πŸ’œ

I am still on Maternity leave, though I have started visiting a couple of my regular clients if they are needing any one of assistance etc.

Life with two kids is definitely a juggle, along side lots of entertainment and enjoyment at times too making it very rewarding.

Working again is something I will look towards when both boys are bigger, and so less dependant. Saying this I am still happy to help or give advise etc if required.
Feel free to get in touch if you have a query/need assistance - if I can make things work around childcare or I deem it safe for me to work alongside having Matthew along with me, I will be happy to help.

Best wishes

Burgie Horse Trials

After 45 years of national and international eventing competitions it is with a heavy heart that we announce that the British Eventing Horse Trails to be held on 3rd July 2022 will be the final Horse Trials at Burgie.

From humble beginnings in 1977 through the flourishing years of the late ’90 and early 2000’s, Burgie grew to being one of the largest competitor Three Day Events in the world, with the core objectives of good fun and good sport. Many future equine champions have cut their Three-Day Event teeth on the hills at Burgie and the great and good from the eventing world have enjoyed the long daylight days and fabulous views from the top of the hill.

This has been a very difficult family decision, as all of us at Burgie are well aware of the enormous contributions that have been made over the years to make Burgie so internationally synonymous with the sport and the significant community which has embraced the venue from around Scotland. It is testament to this community that there are still key team members and volunteers from the original event in 1977 that will be active for the final running on the 3rd July 2022 and we would like to pay tribute to the hard working Horse Trials Committee and the many volunteers whom have made this event so great over so many years and who have given so much time, energy, and hard work into the running of eventing at Burgie over the past 45 years.

We are also sincerely grateful for the years of commitment made by the riders, owners, sponsors and so many more who have embraced Burgie Horse Trials and embodied all that is good about the sport of eventing.

We hope the sun will shine and everyone will have fun on Sunday 3rd July.

Best wishes
