Thanks to a dog lover for sharing this update from DAERA re free movement of dogs .

It confirms that DAERA continues to push for the existing Common Travel Area for people within U.K. and Ireland to be extended to include our beloved dogs but WE NEED A FINAL BIG PUSH

And this where you can help 🐾🐾🐾

If this proposal is accepted by The Irish Government it will allow us to travel with our dogs freely North South and from NI to GB and back

So let’s convince the Irish Government to accept the proposal 🐾🐾

If everyone could email the Irish representatives who can facilitate this it might just push it over the line and restore our freedom to travel by Summer

“ I am writing to you about the difficulties facing Dog Lovers in Ireland as a result of the new rules requiring pet passports , tapeworm treatment and rabies vaccinations for travel between the U.K. and Ireland .

I understand that DAERA in NI have proposed that travel with dogs should be included in the Common Travel area already in existence between U.K. and Ireland which guarantees “seamless” travel for citizens of both states between the two countries .

The proposed new restrictions serve no purpose .There is no rabies or tapeworm in the U.K. or Ireland and my companion dog travelling with my family on holiday and returning home will not damage the European single market .

Accordingly I would ask that you urgently agree to the DAERA proposal which will restore my right to unimpeded travel with my Dogs between the U.K. and Ireland so that i can continue to

[add your own personal goal ie work, visit family , enjoy dog friendly holidays , seek education or work opportunities etc ]

“Officials are said to be close to reaching agreement on how to manage the movement of pets from GB to Northern Ireland, as well as the question of tariffs on steel imports into the North.”

Our real concern is that the concessions are for “guide dogs” only as per reports earlier

Of course we want guide dogs to be able to travel but WE WANT ALL DOGS to be able to travel

THERE IS NO REASON WHY THEY SHOULD NOT

So please share and make it clear

ALL DOGS SHOULD BE ABLE TO TRAVEL FREELY

U.K. to Ireland and back

NO RESTRICTIONS ARE ACCEPTABLE
