Some important changes to travelling with your pet in the EU came into force this week on 22nd April 2026.

As Northern Ireland is still part of the EU Pet Travel Scheme, these changes don’t impact us as much.

✔️Your EU pet passport is still valid if your main residence is in Northern Ireland, or another EU country.

✔️We can still issue your pet passport if your main residence is in NI, and the requirements for this are unchanged (microchip and rabies vaccination etc.)
We may ask for proof of address.

✔️Travel directly from NI to GB has not changed. No extra requirements are needed.

✔️If you live in GB, and plan to come to NI only, you can request a free NI Pet Travel Document from DEFRA.

⛔️If your main residence is in GB (England,Scotland or Wales) and you have an EU pet passport, you can no longer use that passport to travel to EU countries with your pet.

❗️GB residents must get an Animal Health Certificate to allow travel to the EU. These have been extended to last for 6 months onward travel.

There are also some other changes relating to authorised persons travelling with a pet and the number of pets allowed to travel together. Have a look at the DAERA website for full details.

If you have any concerns or questions about travelling with your pet please contact us at [email protected] or contact DAERA directly for the latest official guidance for any country.

It can show up in different ways, but a common sign is enlarged lymph nodes.

✅ Normally, lymph nodes are small, soft, and hard to notice.

🩺 If they feel firm or enlarged, don’t panic – we are here to help.

📞 Call us to book a £25 lump check with a vet or visit our website Offers page to find out more and book online.
