Registration Now Open for the Bovine Genetics Project and Genotyping Scheme 🐄

The Bovine Genetics Project is open to all cattle keepers in Northern Ireland, including both breeding and finishing enterprises. The project aims to support genetic improvement across the beef and dairy sectors by providing farmers with access to valuable genetic information that can help improve herd performance, inform breeding decisions, and support a more sustainable and profitable future for the industry.

While registration for the Genotyping Scheme is now open, farmers should note that genotyping activity under the scheme will commence from 1 September 2026.

Click the link below to register or give us a call if you have any questions about the scheme.

Sustainable Ruminant Genetics (SRG NI) delivers the Bovine Genetics Project (BGP) to help Northern Ireland farmers improve cattle genetics.

⚠️ Please take extra care during the warm weather

Dogs cats and other small furries can quickly become unwell in warm weather, especially during walks, travel, or time outdoors.

Some pets are more at risk, including flat-faced breeds, older pets, overweight animals, and those with medical conditions.

Heatstroke is a medical emergency and can become life-threatening very quickly.
If you are worried about your pet, contact us immediately for advice or emergency care.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly from all at Riada Vets.

🐾 We have seen an increase in ticks with the warmer weather, meaning your pets are at greater risk when out on walks or playing in grassy areas.

It’s important to check your pet’s regularly, especially in these common areas and ensure your tick prevention treatments are up to date.

If you find a tick, remove it carefully with a tick remover or contact us for advice.

🐾 SUNNY & SABLE 🐾

The purrfect pair! 🧡🤎

Meet Sunny and Sable, our newest kitten pack cuties! These two were in this week with our vet James. Although not from the same litter, they are inseparable already. They were adorably curious the whole time, taking in all the sights, sounds, and buzz around them- which didn’t make it easy to capture the purrfect picture 😅 📸

We’re so excited to welcome them to Team RIADA! 💙

Sad news: Unfortunately we have had a longhaired black, white and ginger cat (black triangle on its nose) found deceased on the Bann Road after being hit by a car. Unfortunately this wee one doesn’t have a microchip or collar. It appears to be an elderly cat and has no teeth. If you think this could be yours please give us a call.
