Just felt the need to post these official photos as John and I rarely get a photo together, and very rarely glammed up so I need to make a record of this π!
Also to say a huge thank you to Dream Dogs NI, we were pretty nervous going to the awards ceremony as its all so new to us and we didn't know anyone, but we were so pleased to bump into them at the very start and support each other π«Άπ»

A little bit about us, and why you might want your dog to stay in our home...
We are a family of dog-lovers, with 2 children and 2 dogs of our own. Our kids are age 11 and 9 and have grown up around dogs. We have a playful and friendly 3 year old Cocker Spaniel, and a 10 year old Shih-tzu who loves to sleep. We are a relaxed and chilled household and we love to have visitors. With the kids and their friends constantly playing about the house, and because the dog guests live as part of our family, we can only offer home-boarding to well-behaved, house-trained dogs.
We live in a quiet area, our back garden is enclosed and secure. Our home is safe and dog-friendly β the dogs have lots of room to run about to play, or space to rest and be on their own if they prefer β we provide all the home comforts and lots of enriching toys and activities. We keep to the dog's own feeding, exercise and sleep routine.
We started out last year, only taking one household at a time, but now that we have so many regular returning dogs who we know well, we can sometimes double up or cross over bookings - it just depends on the dog, the circumstances and our family situation at the time.
I have Crohns Disease and a type of arthritis called AS, which is why I spend most of my time at home, my sanctuary. The dogs are my constant company and comfort. I need a stress-free life for my own wellbeing, which is why we are so selective and limited in which dogs we can have to stay, and why we will never be over-run or overwhelmed with dogs - just one or two pooch friends to add a bit of love and fun to the day. And that's why we are so well suited to senior dogs, those with medical conditions, dogs with separation anxiety or nervous pups who need a little limited socialising.
I am fully insured, certified in Animal Care and First Aid, and have enhanced Access NI clearance through my charity volunteering. (There is not currently any licensing for domestic home boarding in Northern Ireland, so I aim to comply with as many DAERA conditions as possible, and follow DEFRA guidelines for home boarding to ensure safety and wellbeing for all our visitors.)
Any questions send us a message ππΎ
How handsome is our Bobby though π
What a lovely week, so many lovely dogs ππΎ
Ollie the chocolate Lab, Peaches the Golden Retriever, Murphy the Lab cross, Thor the French Bulldog, Bertie the Tibetan Terrier pup, Amber the Cockapoo, Arnold the Pug, Lola our Shihtzu and Bobby our golden Cocker Spaniel. How lucky are we to be able to visit these gorgeous doggies and have them come to visit us ππΎ
Dogs bring so much happiness, all so different and unique, yet all so similar - they just want to love and be loved β€οΈ
Our wee Lola - the granny of the house ππΎ
Lola will be 11 in September. This wee woman has had her fair share of problems over her years - she had patella luxation when she was 2 (3 operations to fix), she got hydrotherapy after this! When she was 7 she had a tumour on her adrenal gland which needed removed - they tested for pancreatitis, Addison, Cushings Disease, and an Β£8k vet bill later they located the tumour (thank goodness for insurance!). We had to tube feed her at home so we could get her home from the vets (she really hates being away from home).
Lola has arthritis in her back legs, we had suspected IVDD last year but x-rays finally confirmed hip dysplasia. It doesn't affect her too badly, she just can't go for walks very often. She is just stiff and slow, and because she previously had a bad reaction to pain relief from the vets we have to be very careful with medication for her.
Lola has doggy dementia. The vet says not to worry, we are doing everything we can to keep her comfortable and happy as can be. Doggy dementia affects a lot of senior dogs, and with Lola we notice the odd toileting accident, a bit of confusion, sometimes not recognising her name, sleeping a lot, random howling (which Bobby then copies!) and sometimes restlessness at night. But so long as she is at home she is happy.
She has recently developed porphyrin staining (the rusty colour staining the fur around her mouth), but there are no obvious causes for this, and the vet agrees that while it isn't bothering her we don't want to carry out any unnecessary testing or treatments on Lola as it causes her wee body too much stress to be poked, prodded, sedated or anaesthetised. Her eyesight and hearing is OK, she's just a bit dazed sometimes.
We've been through a lot with Lola and her care, it's why we like to provide a nice sanctuary here for our dogs and our K9 visitors, and why we have a real soft spot for senior dogs and those with medical issues ππΎ
Home from holidays and the back to the Northern Irish weather! Arnold got sunshine, Murphy got rain.
Bobby and Lola were very pleased to see us, it's nice to know your dog is being well looked after but it's also always good to know they haven't forgotten you! Big thank you to the lovely Jennie from for looking after them for us, we thought Lola would be most comfortable at home, and Jennie made sure they were safe and loved and I felt reassured. Anyone looking a petsitter in the dog's own home I highly recommend Adventure Tails NI π
We've had a lovely break away in Crete, it's nice to have some sunshine and a change of scenery. In typical Hamilton family style, our week ended up revolving around animals - feeding a little feral cat and visiting her baby kittens multiple times a day, and looking after a lost dog who followed us about all evening.
Back to reality tomorrow to see some of our faves this week π and starting to look forward to the 8th June and the Local Pet Awards Night. We truly don't expect to win in the Homeboarding category as we are such small fish in a big huge pond, but it has been really lovely receiving the messages from people to say they've been voting for us, it does mean a lot. We are forever grateful to be in this lovely community and be surrounded by so many gorgeous dogs and kind-hearted and supportive people, thank you π
If anyone would like to put in a last minute vote for us before noon tomorrow, the link is in the stories. Last email said here had been almost 20,000 votes registered across all the categories! Every single one for us is appreciated more than you know π«Άπ»
I've been trying to reply to messages whilst away but if I have missed any please resend and I'll get back to you tomorrow x

One can't walk. One doesn't want to walk. I'm the dope who gives in π PS THAT NOISE IS LOLA SNORING IN HER SLING π€π€£ Lola's legs and hips are sore at the moment but she still likes to get out, FOMO and all that... Arnold walked most of the way but got a wee bit jealous of Lola's throne at various stages so he joined the carry-me-brigade...
I feel how Lola feels.... Want to eat, can't be arsed moving, just really need somebody to come and handfeed me treats while I lounge on the sofa π€£
The Important Information for 2024 πΎ The boring but necessary details... You all know me by now and know I hate the money conversations, but have to keep reminding myself that Happy Pet, Happy Home is a business, and as much as I would love to do all this for free, time costs money πΈ I'll always be as flexible as possible with arrangements and workarounds to fit everyone in and keep everyone happy, and as we get to know all the dogs better and have repeat/regular visitors, we are able to overlap and double up at times (if owners agree). But with being so small-scale and limited in our capacity and availability - which is one of the main attractions in booking with us I think! - I need try to be a bit more organised and business-minded in 2024... We organise our family plans around the boarding dogs so need to balance better! Appreciate everyone's understanding and cooperation, the support and great feedback we receive means the world. I'm super proud of the business, we love having the dogs to stay and we love getting out to visit them. With increasing demand for our services, and bookings already up until the end of 2024, if I can streamline the admin side of things it will make it an even happier home for the doggies to come to π‘πππΎ

Happy International Dog's Day π‘ππΎ From Bobby & Lola, and from John, Chloe, Charlie & me - thank you to all of you who have trusted us with your dogs these past 4 months. We have loved having each and every one here, and I have loved my wee jaunts out to visit some of them. Dogs really do bring happiness into a home, and we will shower them with love and affection and keep them safe while they are in our care. We enjoy the company and all their individual wee quirks. Really looking forward to the stays we have booked in over the coming months and it will be lovely to see some of these familiar beautiful wee faces return.
