I want to follow on from yesterday’s post about deposits and explain why we take them.
I also want to address the issue of matting. I will not brush out matted coats. I’m happy to brush out minor knots and tangles, but I will never put a pet through unnecessary pain or discomfort by trying to brush out severe matting.
It is the owner’s responsibility to maintain their pet’s coat between grooming appointments. If you’re unable to keep on top of coat maintenance, then more regular grooming appointments will be needed.
I work with the condition of the coat presented to me on the day of the appointment. If a coat is matted, I will always recommend the safest and most humane option, clipping underneath the matting to avoid pulling on the pet’s skin and causing pain.
If you choose not to go ahead with this option, you are absolutely entitled to take your pet home and manage the matting yourself. However, the appointment will then be treated as a cancellation or no show and the deposit will be forfeited.
I will not tolerate bullying or abusive behaviour over this policy. My priority will always be the welfare, comfort, and safety of the pets in my care. This is non negotiable.
I have been grooming pets for 13 years, and throughout that time my number one priority has always been your pet’s wellbeing.
I understand that losing a deposit can be frustrating, but please remember that you are booking my professional time and experience. This is my livelihood, and a little respect and understanding goes a long way.
I truly appreciate all of my wonderful customers and will continue to provide a high standard of grooming and a safe, caring environment for every pet that comes through my door.
