We are proud to announce that we have been awarded Silver Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation, recognising our commitment to providing exceptional care for our feline patients.

As part of our cat-friendly approach, we offer a dedicated cat-only ward and a separate waiting area designed to minimise stress and create a calm, comfortable environment for cats during their visit.

We understand that trips to the vet can be particularly stressful for feline patients, which is why our team is committed to handling every cat with patience, compassion, and an understanding of their individual needs.

This accreditation reflects the hard work and dedication of our team in continually enhancing the standard of care we provide for both our patients and their owners.

This is Frank who was in for his yearly lion clip. Some long haired cats can be very difficult to groom, for these we can offer a full body clip under sedation. Less stress for Frank and a full summer of relief from a tangled hot coat! We think he looks fabulous!

Shared for Yorkshire Dales wildlife rescue

HELP! It's our busiest time of the year and we urgently need volunteers for evening shifts and also transport volunteers. On our evening shift (5pm onwards) you can either help support the running of the rescue by helping with housekeeping, or learn to care for our wonderful wildlife patients. Our transport volunteers are on hand if any sick animal needs transporting from A to B quickly. We need transport volunteers spread as widely across the Yorkshire Dales and beyond as possible. If you are interested in finding out more, please email [email protected]
Thank you.

⚠️📢🚨MISSING SINCE SUNDAY EVENING PLEASE CHECK SHEDS AND GARAGES IN CASE HE IS SHUT IN. THANK YOU⚠️📢🚨

His name is Benji, he’s 2 years old. Quite a small cat. Tabby markings with a white bib. We live on Sunhill Drive at the bottom of Lucy hall drive. We are getting worried about him now as it’s unusual for him to disappear like this. I’ll send a couple of photos.
Thank you so much.
Rachael.

With warmer weather expected this bank holiday weekend, please remember that dogs can overheat very quickly — even in typical UK temperatures.

Higher-risk dogs include:
• Flat-faced breeds (French Bulldogs, Pugs, Bulldogs, Boxers, Shih Tzus)
• Elderly dogs and puppies
• Overweight dogs
• Dogs with heart or breathing conditions
• Thick-coated breeds

Signs of heat stroke:
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Drooling excessively
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Collapse or confusion

How to help prevent heat stroke:
• Walk dogs early morning or later evening
• Keep fresh water available at all times
• Provide shade and cool resting areas
• Avoid strenuous exercise in warm weather
• Check pavements before walks
• Never leave dogs in cars — even for a few minutes

If you suspect heat stroke, move your dog somewhere cool, offer water, wet them with cool (not ice cold) water and contact your vet immediately.

Have a lovely weekend everyone and enjoy the sun ☀️🐾

This Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month, we’re celebrating and thanking our incredible veterinary nursing team for the dedication, compassion, and hard work they bring to the practice every single day. 🐾

Veterinary nurses are at the heart of everything we do. From caring for our patients and supporting their owners, to assisting our vets and keeping the practice running smoothly, their contribution is truly invaluable.

A huge thank you to our wonderful registered veterinary nurses — Nicole, Helen, Becca, Eleanor, Jill, and Clare, and to our student veterinary nurse Sophie. Your kindness, skill, and commitment never go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for everything you do. 💙

Our amazing animal care assistants are equally important members of the team, and we’ll be celebrating them in another post very soon! ✨

As we enter the time of year when young birds begin leaving the nest, it’s important to recognise that not all baby birds found on the ground require intervention.

Many fledglings naturally spend time outside the nest as they learn to fly and are often still under the care and supervision of their parents nearby.

If you encounter a young bird, please take a moment to assess the situation before acting. The guidance below provides a simple decision-making framework to help determine whether assistance is necessary.

If you do need to contact a rescue here are some local organisations who may be able to help:
