Remembrance Sunday πΈ
Honouring the Animals of War ποΈ
Today, we pause to remember not only the brave men and women who served β but also the millions of animals who stood beside them. ππΎ
ποΈ Over 8 million animals served during the First World War alone.
π΄ Horses carried soldiers and supplies through unimaginable conditions β half a million never came home.
π Dogs delivered messages, located the wounded, and offered comfort in the darkest moments.
ποΈ Pigeons, like the heroic Cher Ami, saved hundreds of lives by carrying vital messages across enemy lines.
π Cats, donkeys, and even elephants played their part too β each one helping in ways we can never truly repay.
Today, we wear a purple poppy π alongside the red, to honour every animal who served, suffered, and sacrificed.
Today, I give thanks to everyone who fought π
Lest we forget.
