We lost our beloved Ava a few months ago and we now have a new rescue Rosey, she has been with us for about 6 weeks and is settling in well, she is a beautiful lurcher and is very different to looking after a staffy but we are learning her unique ways and helping her adjust to her new life.

So I thought I would share something I found out recently. I have heard a lot of balanced dog trainers pop up recently. What is a balanced dog trainer? It is a trainer that uses positive and aversive methods in their training, so shock collars, prong collars, choke leads! Be careful with some of the big names, check out their website and training methods carefully.
I am a fully qualified dog behaviourist and can help with your dog's fears, anxieties, juvenile behaviour, reactivity on lead and separation anxiety and many more. I use only positive methods and believe in dealing with the underlying emotion rather than just correcting the behaviour.

I saw a beautiful Cocker Spaniel yesterday, he has separation anxiety and is fearful of some new dogs and people. We are working on mental enrichment and boosting happy hormones to reduce some of his stress hormones. I also recommended to the owners to get him used to the getting ready to go out routine. We will see how he does next month when I see them again, the owners seemed very keen to help him.

I love a success story, thank you Georgina for my lovely review, it just goes to show that patience and hard work pays off.

We don't know how to put into words our journey to be honest!
Due to changes in circumstances in my living arrangements, I introduced a kitten into my parents household with two existing dogs (Tessa, a working Cocker whose 12 years and Darcy, a Bichon Frise, whose 9 years).
Neither are used to cats and when they saw one on the road they'd make gestures that they'd go to chase. Yet weren't bothered if the cat didn't do anything!
It was Tessa my parents were concerned about as she's a working dog. She became very excitable around Otto, the kitten, and would cause my parents a lot of worry. In fact they were adamant it would never work out.
So I reached out for help from Angela. We all came away with a new confidence in Tessa. After all, why would she want to harm a kitten as Angela said?
She was just a dog who didn't know how to engage with Otto and found his sudden kitten movements a bit different!
To cut a long story short we never expected the three of them to be curling up on the sofa together a week later! Fast forward 6 week and Otto and Tessa are best friends ❤
