Bit quiet from us lately, P is in recovery still from a split ear, she's very happy in herself, resting well, soooooo pushy to work bless her, so we do little bits that we can! Being extra careful as don't want to rush this and have to start over if she re-opens the tear!! She has also been learning to catch food even in her cone, so still keeping the brain work going! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Off to Woodborough tomorrow to work Pyro, plus off to a working spot workshop Saturday in North Devon for Mr Pyro, busy week for him! P LOVES being at working dog places cos no dog ever bothers her, she loves coming along to Pyro's sessions 😁😁

QUESTION! What does a dog on a lead mean to you as pet owners? This is a genuine question, I ask because, out with 2 dogs in my care, I see a woman approaching me, I recall the two I have and put them on a lead, the dog owner just kept coming with her dog, not a rude dog, it didn't charge, BUT it came over to sniff at the two I'd got with me. Today the same owner was again going to do the same thing with her dog, I could have said nothing and given her a bit of a shock as I had a reactive dog with me (not bad but doesn't like dogs in her face and rightly so!) so I tell the woman I have a reactive one, she THEN puts a lead on her dog, but up until that point was just going to leave her dog off. I don't do arguments etc, but if I recall and put the dogs I have on lead, would you not do the same out of respect? A million reasons why I could have a dog on a lead, should I have to request that I don't want their dog to interact for whatever reason?

The love for water is coming!! 🌊❤️🌊❤️🌊❤️ So many clients tell me their dogs don't enjoy swimming or the water, Pyro had ZERO water confidence, yes he'd come in for me because we have a good relationship, but then he'd panic when he swam, so we've taken a gentler approach to what I needed to do with Puddles, now he is staying in the pool all of his own accord! 😁😁 Now he's confident walking about in it, we shall build it into actually swimming!! 😁😁 All the small wins amount to the big ones, dog training is a journey, we change and adapt based on the dog in front of us 😁 proud of you Mr Pyro!!

Something to consider in this hot weather that most don't address! (Pic from early morning walk btw!) If your dog is doing less during this hot weather then feed using your eyes or condition scoring, don't just feed the same amount! Some dogs stress through doing less, like I don't need to feed Pyro less food, not that he's stressed, he's just a busy boy that will never put on any more weight, destined to be a lean sport dog, Puddles actually does more currently because I let her swim to her heart's content in this heat and trust me she will go for hours!! 😂😂😂 But if your dog doesn't like water, isn't stressed by the lesser activity, watch their weight so it doesn't become an issue either way, feed more or less! Keeping a lean dog can prolong their life, REALLY easily being able to feel ribs or see them is a good lean weight, we love our dogs so keep them lean for all the health benefits it can offer 😁
