Another finished build! 🧱✨

This striking university hospital in London is now complete, built using over a quarter of a million 65mm Natural Orange facing bricks 😲—bringing warmth, texture, and timeless character to the city skyline🏙. Steve stopped by while sightseeing and couldn’t resist snapping a few shots. When your work becomes part of the landscape, it’s worth capturing. 📸🇬🇧

Remember the Butterfly Frogs? 🦋🐸🧱
Not only is this building super impressive & bright in colour 😍, the project is now up for a BDA award & its using our very own Natural Orange bricks 👏🏻- but not just any bricks, bricks used to create brick faced cladding panels 😲.

What is a Brick faced Cladding Panel? 🤷‍♀️ -
These tick off a lot of boxes,
Lightweight & versatile ✅
Robust ✅
Ability to age gracefully ✅
These panels typically consist of a core material, such as cement, metal or composite materials. While giving the apperence of traditional brick walls.

270 precast panels clad in over 270,000 bricks were craned 🏗️ into place with the windows already installed (impressive huh? 👌🏻), before being internally fixed at the head & base, thats a whole building being built without a single piece of scaffolding!! 👷‍♂️👩🏼‍🔧
& whats even more impressive, this WHOLE building was built in just 13 weeks 🤯, thats less time than my kitchen at home it taking .. but lets save that for another day 👀.

What is unique about these bricks? 🧱
We produced a bespoke frog 🐸 design that enables the brick to be cut in half lengthways, the design of the frog allows both halves of the cut brick to be used in the manufacturing process.
Bricks are cut and shaped to suit the details of the façade 👏🏻

Situated within St Ann’s conservation area in the heart of Manchester City Centre🐝, it is certainly worth taking a look!

Today, we remember and honor a truly extraordinary man — a cherished colleague and lifelong member of our Furness Brick family. 💛

Roger Collinge began his journey with us in 1964, helping to redesign the site and revolutionize our processes — moving from wheelbarrows to forklifts to fill the kilns. His forward-thinking spirit helped shape the foundation we stand on today.

In 1985, he stepped into the role of Managing Director, guiding us with integrity and deep industry knowledge. Later, he returned to his roots, overseeing kiln operations with the same care and precision he was known for.

After 57 years of dedication, Roger retired in 2021, leaving behind not just a legacy of hard work, but a lasting imprint on all of us who had the honor of working beside him.

At 84, his passing leaves a space that can never be filled — but his impact, stories, and values will remain with us always.

Rest in peace, Roger. You will always be part of our story. 🧱

Lauren, Sales Assistant 👋

Lauren joined us in September 2022 and slotted right into our little team perfectly, Lauren's hidden talent is that she can sing along to any song that is ever played on the radio, and half the time she doesn't know she's doing it 🎤🎶.

Lauren loves an adventure, you'll quite often find her booking train tickets here and there 🚂, planning weekend walks ⛰️ or plotting her next sunshine holiday ☀️ Lauren's bad habit is saying 'Sorry', we could have a artic vehicle full of cream cakes from the amount of times Lauren says sorry a day!!! ... you stubbed your toe 'Sorry' , the milk has gone off 'oh I'm sorry' ... maybe we need a sorry jar 🫙 💷.

Rachael, Sales Assistant & Forced Fun Creator 👋

Rachael has been apart of the Furness Brick family since 2019 after 12 years as a nursery nurse looking after babies as young at 12 weeks old, a slight career change from babies to bricks 👩‍🍼🧱

Rachael is known in the office as the forced fun creator 💃, Christmas 2024 we saw the office staff picking up marshmallows with plastic cups on their hands whilst blind folded pretending to be reindeer 🦌& pancake day we had a "biggest tosser competition". She says she can hear the groans after she sends a force fun teams message 😁.

Nick first joined Furness Brick in 1998 at the age of 24 after many years in retail 👚🚗, Nick enjoys nothing more than a ridiculously milky brew 🫖 & peppermint cream if your putting the kettle on.

Did you know one of Nicks hobbies is Amateur dramatics 🎭 and has produced many productions over the last 10 years, he takes his role very seriously and once even dyed his hair blue to get into character properly 🙊😀

Lauren has been desperate to get stuck in on the yard since she saw a glimmer of sunshine ☀️. She's currently working towards her fork lift truck licence so she can help when needed out there 😀... next she said she wants to build a full pack of 400 bricks 🧱 .. one step at a time Lauren ...
