🐾 Settle means settle.

Billie, Dolly and Leskie demonstrating one of the most valuable skills a dog can learn: how to relax and switch off, even when life is happening around them.

People often think calm behaviour comes naturally, but it's actually something we teach, practise and reinforce over time.

A settle mat gives dogs a clear place to relax, helping them understand when it's time to switch off at home, in cafés, on holiday or when out and about.

🐾 Throwback to raising this gorgeous litter.

At just 7 weeks old, these little ones were learning that calm behaviour gets rewarded while fireworks played in the background.

The goal wasn't a perfect sit. It was helping them learn that being calm, focused and patient pays off.

At the same time, they were getting used to everyday noises in a positive way. By pairing sounds with food, training and fun, puppies learn that the world isn't such a scary place.

Puppy training isn't just about teaching cues. It's about building confidence, resilience and good habits from an early age.

Looking back at these videos makes me realise how tiny they were ❤️

🏆 Billie's 1 Minute Stay in Advanced Obedience.

People see the achievement, but they don't always see the preparation behind it.

Reliable stays aren't built overnight. They come from hundreds of repetitions, practising in different environments and gradually increasing distance, duration and distractions.

Mistakes will happen along the way, but practice pays off.

One thing I've found helpful is giving dogs a familiar place to settle. Using the same Settle Mat at home, in training and out and about can help dogs understand what's expected of them wherever they are.
