Beautiful Black Traditional Cob Mare – 17 years young, 146cm (JMB measured last year)
Treacle was purchased as a newly broken 12-year-old for a then nervous teenage rider, who has sadly now outgrown her. Over the last five years, she has proven herself to be a genuine confidence-giver while still being capable of stepping up a gear for a more experienced rider.
During her current owners’ time with her, Treacle has enjoyed a varied and successful career, turning her hoof to a little bit of everything.
Treacle is well balanced in all three paces and works in a lovely natural outline. She is responsive without being sharp, doesn’t require much leg, and has excellent brakes.
She has confidently jumped courses around 60cm and is honest and willing over fillers and spooky fences. She has happily popped larger single fences and shows scope for more, although this has never been a focus for her current owners.
She is sensible and level-headed when comes to hacking and is unfazed by traffic, farm machinery, and open spaces. She hacks happily in company and is excellent when following. When leading or hacking alone, she benefits from a confident rider, although this is something that would likely continue to improve with regular work.
Showing is where Treacle really excels. She has competed successfully at grassroots level, consistently producing excellent results. She has attended STARS and behaved impeccably throughout. Last year, she contested a number of SFAS classes, achieving high placings, and was also awarded Supreme Champion at her local show society’s end-of-year awards.
Treacle is overstamped with TGCA and has always received lovely comments from judges, along with excellent placings in breed classes.
