Wonderful news 🩷

Today we found out that we have been included alongside 21 other incredible charities to share an extremely generous donation of £2.43 MILLION from the absolute hero, Ricky Gervais.

The Retreat Animal Rescue will receive a donation of £100,000 which will be monumental to the animals and future of our sanctuary. With our running costs averaging quarter of a million pounds every year and steadily increasing, this donation means the absolute world to us and will make 2026 a lot less stressful. We are so very grateful to have the assurance that we're able to feed all of our wonderful rescued residents and keep our gates open.

We want to express enormous amounts of gratitude to Ricky for his support as well as to Jane Fallon and Peter Egan. We don't have enough words to say quite how much this means to all of us here at The Retreat. Thank you so much for all that you do for the animals.

Attention all Thursday doggies 🐕

We had a great time last year so get your doggies jumper out, Reindeer Antlers, jungle bells, tinsel or whatever Christmas dress you have and leave it out.

This year we're raising money for charity. We would like to help The Retreat Animal Rescue Farm Sanctuary and Cafe so feel free to leave any pennies out, no matter how big or small. You can send money the usual way. It all helps, and we'll update you once it's all in 🩷

Our story

Having been the best of friends for many years, we knew that working together would be so much fun. We both come from marketing backgrounds, and it goes without saying, we’re huge animal lovers so setting up a business together was our dream.

After careful planning, training and hard work we launched Ashford Paws back in early 2017 focusing on dog walking and pet sitting. Since then we’ve welcomed so many animals and their owners to our family, and it really is like a family. We absolutely love spending time with all our fur babies. There is nothing more rewarding than being welcomed with wagging tails and excited dogs, and then knowing that they are sleeping well after a fun and enjoyable walk. Not to mention, the joy of looking after animals in the comfort of their own homes with our pop in service, allowing the owners the peace of mind that their babies are being well cared for without the stress of boarding or travelling.

We’ve loved every minute of building our little business and seeing it grow to what is an established and respected service in Ashford. We’re really looking forward to seeing it continue to grown and welcoming new paws to our family.
