☀️ Hot weather’s here (for how long is anyone's guess!), and while we’re loving the sunshine... This means it’s time for a quick reminder for our smoosh-faced furry friends! 🐶🐽
Brachycephalic breeds (like Pugs, Frenchies, Bulldogs & Bostons) don’t handle heat as well as other dogs. Their short snouts make it harder for them to regulate temperature and cool down, which means they can overheat... FAST 🥵

A few things to keep in mind:
🌡️ Avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day
💦 Keep them cool with shade, fans, and fresh water
🚫 Never leave them in the car (even for "just a minute") [same applies for all breeds]
🐾 Watch for signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or collapse

There are also DIY options, such as rolling up a towel with treats inside. This requires your dog to sniff and unravel in order to eat the tasty treats and can be made harder by tying the towel in a knot after rolling up!) 🪢

🐽👃 Sniffing 👃🐽
Does your dog struggle to unwind and relax?... Mental stimulation and enrichment may be your answer! 🧠
Even dogs that are walked numerous hours / miles each day may struggle to switch off... Simply because they need mental stimulation in addition to physical! 🐕‍🦺
As well as providing mental stimulation, sniffing is one way to help your dog settle or decompress, whether you're at home or out and about...
✅ Long Grass
✅ Snuffle Mats
✅️ Scent Trails
✅️ Bushes / Lamposts, etc.
Ensure to let your dog use that fantastic nose of theirs!!

Today, Dave is testing out some tasty, natural treats from Natural Hounds Ashby! 🍗🧀🥩
