Let’s Talk About Matting 🐶✂️

Matting is something we see far too often in the salon, and it can be really uncomfortable — even painful — for your dog.

So, what causes matting?
Matting happens when loose hairs get tangled together and form tight knots close to the skin. It’s most common in curly or long-coated breeds, but any dog can get them — especially during coat changes or after getting wet (walkies in the rain or a swim, anyone?).

Common reasons dogs get matted include: 🔹 Lack of regular brushing at home
🔹 Using the wrong tools or products
🔹 Skipping regular grooming appointments
🔹 Wet or damp coats being left to dry naturally

How to prevent matting: ✔️ Brush your dog regularly — daily for longer coats
✔️ Use the right products — I recommend the For All DogKind range, especially their Shampoo and Detangle Spray
✔️ Keep up with regular grooming appointments — I’m happy to help advise a schedule that suits your dog’s coat type!

The Famous Five!
We had a fab day at the salon with the iconic gang — Kevin the Brussels Griffon looking dapper in his clipped groom, joined by the fluffy Pomeranian squad: Delta, Betty, Dougie, and Thor!

Our beloved Midge – the face of the dog shop, the OG, and the inspiration behind our logo – had a well-earned pamper today!
She’s my pride and joy, and even at her age she still scrubs up beautifully.
